No Fish Drama

Hi,
I'm very new to the aquarium scene, and I am in the midst of cycling my 55 gal with about 70 pounds of rock, and a protein skimmer.
Although I know this forum is intended to check out my intended purchases, I have no clue as to where to start.
I know I should have some cleaner snails, or something of that ilk, but I am confused as to what exactly I should have. I consider those cleaners like a baseball manager would think of the bullpen. If the bullpen isn't good the team has no chance to win.
So I was thinking to get about 4 or 5 fishes, and some soft and hard corals.
What kind of fish or fishes (depending if you are an english major) would you recommend?
What types of cleaning crew would work with these said fishes..?
All I want is to have a nice aquarium, with some friendly and fun fish.

Thinking of a revision to my fish list

75g DT, 20gL refugium currently have (2) Banggai Cardinals and (2) Ocellaris clownfish, (2) tiny hermits, (1) emerald crab and assorted snails. I currently have no corals but I will be adding once the tank matures.

I'm thinking for future additions in the order of introduction:

(1 or 2) square back (pink square) anthias
(1) yellow watchmen goby
(1) Kole or bristle tooth tange

your thoughts?

(1) Kole or bristle tooth tange any in this family would work

your thoughts?

Ok, so how about instead of the sailfin tang, I get a firefish and a fairy wrasse?

The firefish is fine, the fairy wrasse competes with the potential mandarin. Remember well that smaller tanks exacerbate potential behavior issues.

Oo yea, I forgot to mention I would not get the mandarin since you said my tank would not sustain it, maybe when I upgrade tanks. But my list is good then? 1 damsel, 1 firefish, 1 fairy wrasse, 1 clown, and one goby? or should I take the damsel out?

I'm setting up a 30 gallon with lots of rock and caves for hiding and exploring and 3 inch sandbed.

My fish Wishlist in the order I'd plan to introduce them;

1 Yellow Clown Goby
1 Firefish
1 Pearly Jawfish
1 Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse
1 Black & White Ocelaris
1 Ocelaris
1 Rusty Angel

Are the Firefish and Jawfish compatible with each other?

I would take the damsel out, it will be nothing but trouble.

that is a bit too many inhabitants for a 30 gallon tank. Any given fish on your list is fine for that sized tank, but together, a bit too much. Additionally, the clownfish pair, once sexually mature, will want to own that tank space.

I forgot to mention on the prior commentary, that you have 3 fish that are prolific jumpers; most small tanks do not have adequate covers to keep these fish in.

Suggestion please!

I'd like to get the following fish for my 100G 48x24x20 tank.

A pair of Black & White Ocellaris Clownfish
A Blenny or Goby (Please suggest one)
A Tang or two if possible. I like the Purple Tang but not sure my tank is big enough. Any suggestions?
Last, I'd like a few blue green chromis. How many can I get?

Thanks for the information.

Current Tank Information: 48"x24"x20" 100G LeeMar Rimless, 3 side Starphire, 40G Breeder Sump/Refugium, 3x AI Sol Blue, 2x Tunze 6105, AquaC EV240 Skimmer, Apex Controller

Would I be alright if I removed one of the Clownfish?

My tank is completely covered and I have plans to put netting over small openings where my filter and protein skimmer are.

Thanks for your help!

The single clownfish will become female. While not as bad, still aggressive. Even then it would be best to get one of the lesser aggressive species such as A. percula. GSM clowns would be too aggressive for your tank.

chromis has recently been coming in less than healthy; even if they were healthy, chromis tend to reduce their number to one or occasionally a male/female pair

Thanks for the information.

Everything I've read says that Ocellaris are less aggressive than the Percula is that not true...GSM was not on my list

Yes, that is correct. GSM (Gold Stripe Maroon) are arguably the most aggressive of all clownfish requiring about 50 gallons of tank space.

Which Blenny or Goby?

Thanks for the input. Any suggestions on which Goby or Blenny would be best for me?

Hi everyone, before I begin here are some details about my tank: Glass 29 Gallon tank, Marineland C-220 canister filter, Coralife 50/50 6 Watt light, 1 Theo heater, 1 JNS VS-1 Aquaria protein skimmer, 2 Koraline nano 425 gph powerheads, 30 lb live rock, 30 lb live sand.

I posted on this thread before I added any livestock and would like to just double check my updated selection.

I currently have 2 Ocellaris clowns, 1 Blue Tuxedo urchin, 1 blue hermit crab, 2 Turbos, 6 Ceriths, 1 Astraea snail and one frag of blue Xenia.

Id like to add the following to the tank over the next few months:

Fish (In order of how I would introduce them)
-1 Wheelers Shrimp Goby or 1 Pink Spotted Watchman Goby
-1 Blue/Green Chromis (I realize 5 fish may push the limits. If so, this would be the fish I am willing to give up)
-1 Dwarf Flame Angel (I realize these are not technically reef safe but I have heard that they aren't too detrimental. Mey depend on the individual)

Inverts (I hope this is not overkill)
-2 Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
-1 Peppermint Shrimp
-1 Tiger Snapping Shrimp (to pair with one of the gobys)
-3 more Cerith snails
-2 Nassarius Snails
-1 Ninja Star Astraea snail

I would like to eventually add a number of corals to the tank so I have tried to take this into account (I will increase the lighting soon).

I would appreciate any help/ suggestions that you may have.

Thank you so much for your help!

As those who follow this thread know, I do not provide recommendations for a variety of reasons. However, I am always pleased to have you check back for compatibility analysis.

The stocking list is fine but my suggestion would be to do away with the chromis.

Cool Fish Wish List

Hi I'm currently cycling my 55 gallon tank but once done I would like to add these fish.

FISH LIST
A pair of ocellaris clowns
A royal gramma
A neon blue goby
A school of blue green chromis maybe 3 or 4
And 3 yellowtail damsels adding them last so they're not as aggressive

INVERT LIST:
2 skunk shrimp
I would like a hermit crab (any good suggestions)
And a few snails (any good suggestions)

I would love to get a starfish but don't know if I'm over stocked with the fish I have. If I'm not over stocked which starfish would work and look cool amongst all the fish and inverts.
