have an unwanted large crab when I say large I mean large ....body is maybe 1" across and has huge nippers ...looks like a mud crab...has demolished several blue legged hermits and has escaped being caught the glass jar method ..seems to be able to swim out of a 5"glass or can just push over the glass...it will not go into a 1 ltr water bottle that has the top cut off...is too smart
I am wondering if anyone has another idea on how to catch it
I was thinking of trying fishing line that has been birdnested (tangled up like a ball)
like the old fashioned witches hat crab trap where the crab gets tangled in the nylon line
Putting the nylon line on top of the bait and hoping it gets tangled up and can't get out
anyone have any other ideas

It's kind of hard to tell from that picture, but if I had to guess I'd go with a Peanut worm.

I'm not really sure about the first and the second picture, but the third one looks like a Peanut worm, and the fourth appears to be Sea spiders.

Still not sure about the first picture, but here's a good article regarding the Isopod in the second & third pictures.

okay thanks, im fairly sure i got the safe to keep Sphaeromatids,
i noticed the tail and to be honest, i quiet liked the isopods, they were among the first livings on my reef.

i got another question regarding the spiders, i got a coral and one branch whatever is called seems to die,
i saw a lot of spiders on it before and after and i assumed theyre not good after google, but i asked here to be sure, here are some pics of the coral and again of the spider.
i should remove the spiders right?

I added some live rock recently and started cycling. I saw this critter this morning - no idea what is is. It's a rich purple colour.

I bought a running FOWLR tank and got back into the hobby after 10 years. After moving and re-setting it up, these appeared. From my research I believe it may be Aiptasia? Looking for a positive ID before removing. Thanks

Alysia730, That looks like what is on the bottle of Aiptasia-X sitting next to me. I had one and three days later when I decided to take care of it I found two small ones near it. Nuked all three and found a really small one last night that kept closing up and hiding before I could inject it. I put some of the stuff where it was hiding hoping that would take care of it. I'll look again once the lights come on for the day.

That's awesome, thank you. I also seem to have a brittle start in there too, but I can't be sure as its hiding away mostly.

The first one is some type of spaghetti worm, harmless detritus collectors.
Then come feather dusters and the last images show Protopalythoa sp. zoanthids as far as I can see.

This is what I think is a star - it's got several long arms but it never comes fully out of the rock, seems to be most active in the morning.

Indeed, thefrog. Definitely one of the small brittle star species.

I've had my tank set up for a while and just noticed this snail looking animal. There's a "hard" spot on top. Not sure if it's a shell or not, definitely to clearly distinct shell like I'm used to seeing. Just want to know what it is and of its safe.
