I remember the first time my GBTA split, I happened to be there watching when the maroon clown got her fin under the last strand of flesh, and ripped it apart. It took her several attempts and I was quite shocked. I sure wish I had video then!

Nothing new on the split today. It seems like it's happy, fully inflated. From what I could see of the lower half's mouth, it looked healed. Hopefully it finishes in the next couple days, I guess it's in no hurry.

Well nothing new on the split, I think the mouths have healed now but it's hard to get a good look in there. I put a rock in front of the rock it's on now to see if the new half wants to get away from the other.
I'm leaving town tomorrow for a week so hopefully it will have completed by then. Here is a pic I took (with flash) the other day before the MH's came on. ![]() |

Gorgeous Anemone, and grats on the split.
Trouble with Tribbles. There was a Deep Space Nine episode where they used footage from the original series. They were trying to find a bomb that was put into one of the Tribbles to assassinate Kirk. Little more information than anyone wanted to know? ![]()

It still looks pretty, even during the ongoing split. And I love your little Copperband. How long have you had it, and are you feeding it anything specific?

I"ve had the Copperband about two years now, they told me at the LFS that it was already eating Mysis. When I fed the tank the following day sure enough it was eating them and has ever since.

great shot of the split. I sure wish I got vid of my maroon getting in on the GBTA split. Oh well. I have been contemplating a top-down vid to show how big it is, but I can't get the whole thing in frame.

Back from a week away working and nothing new to report. The clowns laid their eggs in between the two halves. The lower half moved onto the rock I put in front of it so I moved the rock about a inch away from the other. It doesn't seem to be any further along in the split but it looks like it's doing ok. Here are some shots from today.

weird. very slow split. I have had several fake splits myself where I was sure a split was going on but never happened. Seems like yours is the real thing though.

It looks like both mouths have healed now so hopefully it will continue to finish the split. I'm hoping that me moving the rock away from the other will encourage it to finish the split, it's been over three weeks now. If it didn't look healthy I would be worried but it has never looked better.

Or you could be one of the lucky few to have an anemone with two mouths.

I picked up a used Dart as a spare return pump, or what I thought was. it doesn't have any markings to say it is but it sure looks like one.
![]() The slit looks like it may be progressing I'll try to get pics tonight or when there is something to report. |

Well the last couple days it started roaming and looked like it was going to finally finish the split. It had climbed up the rock-work and the overflow and sat there for a couple of days. I tried to move it but it would not let go and when I tried to force it the flesh started to tear. So after nearly two months I had enough and cut it in the narrowest spot trying to minimize any release of toxins. I also put in fresh carbon and have water change water ready.
Anyway they seem to be doing fine, I don't like where they are but will leave them for now to let the flesh heal. Here are some crappy pics but it gives you the gist of it. ![]() ![]() |

Is there a good write-up on those manifolds for the plumbing? I've seen those in a couple build threads now but not sure what exactly they do or how they work. Thanks.

Cprowler,
What are your intentions for the clone anemone? If at all possible, I think you should set up a tank and begin to propagate them from the clone. Lord knows there's a market for healthy beautiful Ritteri anemones...Added bonus of taking pressure off of wild stock. Nick

Well it's been 48hrs and they both seem to be doing well and I have not noticed any ill effects on any the fish or corals. So far so good, now I just have to move them back down onto their rocks.
I'll try to get some decent pics tomorrow. |

Congrats on the nem split!
My RBTA split yielding three clones. The split was easy on the system. It was the clones finding Tunzes and Vortechs that caused me a ton of trouble. All three were shreaded in a very short period. It was a nightmare!

I picked up a Rabbit fish a few months ago to eat up a Culerpa issue I was having and within a few months it seemed to be eradicated. I then tried to catch it a few times but eventually borrowed a fish trap and traped it.
I have a few poor pics so what the hell, here they are. The first one my butterfly fish kept going in ad the Rabbit was on the wrong side. |
