I am sure it would but i am running a 250 on my 240g, I have a large naso, powber blue, blue spotted kole, scribbled rabbit, maroon clown, 4 chromis, 4 cardinals, 6 line and a mystery wrasse. It is a mixed reef and it pulls out about 3/4 the container every 3-4 days. Saying that, i was going to go with the 200 but just decided to get the 250 and try it. After coming from a ER RC500 the 250 blows the ER away. I am much happier with it and even the wife has made comment about the water looks "cleaner". I think you would be fine with either one but me, I am going to be moving to a 500g system before too long and wanted the capability of the 250 skimmer.

I started dropping a few hints to my wife and I think she's a little scerd. I'm looking forward to getting it. I t will run in the mean time on my 125. Will this be the final product? I would hate to get it now and see 2.0 come out "just in time for Christmas".

I've been thinking about the Orca 250 skimmer for some time now and have been constantly monitoring this thread. I finally took the plunge and bought this skimmer even though it was a little over my budget. It's currently going to run on a 150 gallon stock tank until I get my 215 gallon tank up and running. Just got delivery yesterday. Can hardly wait to set it up today. Will post feedback as things progress.

I have no idea on cleaning and would like to know the recommendation as well.
just a quick update, my 250 has been running great after getting all squared away with flow etc. I just love this thing i feel it coul;d easily handle 1000g system. I have it on 400g now and am feeding 10 cubes of food plus a good chunck of PE mysis to my tank stocked with a couple 10+ inch tangs, 5 smaller tangs and 6 wrasses. It has been 2 weeks since this feeding regamine and the nitrates are 0 on sailferts and PO4 undetectable. I haven;t gotten the color meter for it yet. I'm thrilled and my SPS are coloring up like never before. Here is a shot of my tank. |

Looking good speedstar!
The best way to clean mine so far was to turn off the feed pump and keep the orca running. This is good enough for now. There is no good way to get inside the bubble plate compartment unfortunately, but that should not really be necessary for a long time I hope. With all the turbulence in that compartment there should not be much build up to clean. Very happy with mine on my 600 gallon system. |

Is anyone running ozone through their Reeflo Skimmer? If so is it having any negative effects on the skimmer itself?

I heard that everything is cast acrylic so it should have no effect. The air tubing itself will have to be changed because its plain silicone. You would also have to pass the water and air outputs over some carbon. With the amount of air that is driven through this skimmer, I would think it would make a good reactor.

Do you know what the metric pipe size is? There are several places you can buy Sch 40 gray metric gate valves in the US
Thanks. |

I used a 50 x 1 1/2 coupling to connect the metric pipe to the 1 1/2" standard gate valve.

I went to my local RyanHerco location to buy the coupling and gate valve. They were out of the coupling, but I was lucky enough to find it at a LFS after leaving Herco.
Ryan Herco Coupling - part number is 3231.015 I certainly didnt' find the best deal on the gate valve, but, what's done is done, and I was able to find the parts locally. I'm happy with it, so that's all that really matters, right? Ryan Herco Gate Valve - part number is 5481.015

Tagging along.
Just ordered my Orca 250 Friday. Should have it Tuesday, can't wait. My system is 600 gallon display, 150 gallon sump, 120 gallon refugium. I plan on trying to gravity feed the skimmer directly from one of my overflow pipes.... |

I like the coupling idea, of course if you glue the tooled down pipe directly into the union on top of the box you can go directly to 1.5" pvc
