Nope. Not tempered. But take extreme care. It's not a cheap tank to replace if you crack/chip the glass while drilling.

And I did the stand sump in my 29g.

just got off the phone with Brian at oceanic about my really dull moon lights and he said he could either be the transformer or something in the bulbs going out. He said those are the two major causes for them to dull out. He then said he'll send me both of them and if that doesn't fix it that we can troubleshoot from there. But regardless he's sending me the new ones for free. Thought that was pretty cool of them

I modified chamber #1 by pulling out the false bottom and dremmeling out the "grate" portioin but leaving the main "frame" and replacing it so I could add a heater AND still use the filter that slides in the grooves in chamber #1...when I did this, there was SO much deitritus buildup at the bottom of the chamber, I was a bit shocked...can you say high nitrates?

I popped the grate off and just slid two filters into the groves. When I do my water changes I use the siphon hose and suck all the gunk from the bottom of chamber one. I then put the siphon hose where the blue filter goes in chamber 3 and I'm able to suck all the gunk build up from the bottom of chamber 2 as well. I have cut-to-fit filter sock material in the grate of chamber 2 I rinse every week with my water change as well. No need for a chaeto ball there as I have a sump

So what intensity are you set at now with the RKE ALC module? I'm at 40% with my Cool white and 50% with my Royal Blue. I'm kinda scared to go any higher lol

Sweet!! It's nice to finally see everything up and running. I'm glad you found something to go in the first chamber instead of the second like we were trying to figure out. Glad I could inspire your sump build!

Just got a 29 Bio Cube and am wanting to know if there is a way to run the skimmer and still be able to keep the filter cartridge.

you could easily put a cpr backpak 2 in the first chamber and still run the filter.

IMO though, the bc29 is small enough there is no point to a skimmer as long as you do water changes and if you dont stock it with: a tang, 4 clowns, 5 firefish, and a bunch of damsels. Also those BC filters are seriously overpriced and of lower quality than if you just got a bag of chemipure elite and some poly-filter material.

ok, rant over. :-)

When people say to pop out the divider in the first section do you push it down or pry it up somehow?

Either will work. Easier to push down I guess. Just break it free from it's silicone.

I pushed it down with a long screwdriver and then used the screwdriver to pull it out. Wasn't hard to do.

Hello all! I bought a used BC29 a couple of months ago and I'm sloooowly getting everything I need. Dumped the bioballs. Have a heater and some nice dry rock. Stock lighting for now but will be running LED's if not by Christmas then immediately after . Have a Koralia 425 and a Hydor Pico 1200 for the return. Heard mixed reviews on the Pico though. Will be ordering StevieT's media rack and using filter floss, chemi-pure elite, and purigen. No plans for a fuge at this time. A reefkeeper is in my future along with an ATO unit but those will probably both come after the tank is running.

Hope to have the cycle started by my birthday in July.

Congrats on the BC 29 and welcome to RS. Don't forget to post some pictures as you set your system up.

I'm going to pickup a BC14 by the end of the week. This all came on kind of sudden and this thread is way too long to read the whole thing. What are a few of the most popular upgrades for a 14? Flow would probably be my first upgrade. Which pump fits and works the best? I'll probably have a few small fish and maybe some zoas.

As for return pump, maybe it's just my opinion, but the SLOWER the better. The longer water stays in your filtration area, the better. If you want flow in your tank, buy a Korilla.

The tunze nano skimmer fits in the second chamber w/ the stevie t skimate cup. You can even fit this skimmer AND the mediarack. I have mine set up this way. Constant water level is a must with this skimmer though...

My moonlights never worked. Not even when it was brand new out of the box... sorry.
