Sk8r a fox would clear all that up for you but your right, its tough to house one in a 54, you can get a tiny one for a few months, their easy to catch as long as you only try to catch it once or dont try catching anything when its there, they catch on quick. I just put seaweed on the clip, when he swam up scooped him w the net & off to my friends tank he went.

btb72, That sounds an awful lot like what I said, Im glad you understood it though. When ever you do get those pics please post them for us, a lil diy, lol.

phish guy, considering I only have 3 fish left (knock on wood) I'd have to say its my clowns, they have been w me for a very long time. My Potters is nice too.

Thanks, Bernie. Had a scribbled rabbit once that would do it, but it was too big, and it started eating my frogspawn.

I'll certainly let people know how the sea hare does. It's about the size of a golf ball, and has stuck right close where I put him, at least. They say they have a sense of smell like a bloodhound, so if anything else were attracting him/her/it/all-of-the-above, he could move. So I have hopes.

He arrived in good health, has shown no disposition to ink, and appears to have set to work.

That's Christmas deer on the tank. Below that is my light kit, specs in my sig, and a 9" fake laminate rim that supports the light. Got it from the tank mfg. But anybody could make one of laminate, glue, and light pine. It just overlaps the rim and sits on it.

The sump is 30g, 20 of which is fuge, and there is nothing but lights in the stand: I drilled two holes in my floor and sent the lines to the basement, which is why (silly me) I have it powered by an Iwaki 100 that could send the water to the 18th floor (it's a ranch style house) if I had one. I dial it back a bit. I use 2 opposed Sea Swirls for flow, does great. And I have my skimmer set on eggcrate above my return pump chamber of the sump, freeing the central chamber for a fuge, and routing the effluent back to the downflow chamber of the sump, where any bubbles have to thread their way through a large ball of macro (about basketball size or larger, before encountering the Iwaki or the mag 5 skimmer pump. No, it ain't neat: that rope tie-up happened when I discovered spaflex stretches------and I haven't changed it since.

I will eventually try the PBT, but I want a small speciment & it will be the last fish I add, they are too nice not to try though. Nice Lemonpeel Michael, I love it, its one of my fav angel, but have a notorious reputation for nipping, glad you got a good one there...
I like the Madarin as well, Im still undecided as too if I will try on or not in my new list, but prob not a lil to reclusive for me.

My favorite fish was my ywg, who I suspect was foully murdered by his roommate, a rapidly growing tiger pistol shrimp, who has now taken up with the hussies next door, the highfin gobies. Pistol shrimp ARE known to murder prospective mates of 'their' fish. I say the highfins are going to have to watch it. I'd like to remove this guy to the sump, but catching him in a 50lb rock pyramid is not an easy thing. I may try the baited bottle trick.

Lol, Michael, perhaps you can find an entertainment armoire with doors at what we call a 'garage sale'. They make great beside-the-tank equipment concealment.

I understand, michael, although fish are my priority, corals cost alot, so I would tolerate some nipping as I did w the rock beauty, but only to a certain point, if not out you go no matter how much I like you.
Sk8r I wish I had the room as well to have an out of stand sump,, but thats a no go for me. Im making due for now & I still have space to work to. I want to set up a QT tank but I have no where to put it plus my wife wouldnt like another tanks either, dilemmas!

Sorry to hear about your losses Bernie, dont give up. My wife caused a trajedy in my tank while I was gone on shift once. She fed the tank and forgot to turn on the return pump after she was done. I came home the following morning to find a Red Sea Sailfin, 3 bartlett anthias, pair of hooded wrasses, coral beauty and flame angle all dead.

I had a little shopping spree with her credit card at the LFs after it was all said and done. But it still hurt to see those fish die, so I know what your feeling.

By the way, I keep a yellow clown goby in my sps reef and gave never had the little guy bother anything. Funny thing is I just added a blue clown goby (never seen a blue one before) yesterday and Im hoping to see how he is doing when I get back home tomorrow.

Thanks Eric, unfortunately it wasnt my wife that screwed up, it was me, lol!! But Im ok w it, although I dont have the money to restock, it is forcing me to be patient, which is a good thing. I like gobies, I like all kinds of gobies, unfortunately my tank is a 92 corner not a 184 corner, now that would be sweet...just think about all the extra room under for a sump & crazier fish selection. just dreamin now...
By the way I received my Hammerhead Float Magnet to clean my glass, it works spectacularly!! Phenomenal magnet if you can shell out the $$$$ for it, works wonderfully on the bow front glass.

re tanks and sitters: elaborate, step by step instructions and a "I'm finished now" checklist are helpful in preventing disasters. My own arcane instructions include the last item: "Is the blue tube still 2" above the water and securely positioned?" (kalk drip.) It's bozo, but I have to do that same check myself when I've done anything that can severely nudge hoses.

184 gal Corner tank??? WOW... I figure yer just dreaming in technicolor...

What is the biggest bow-front corner? The biggest ones I've seen are 92gal... I suppose a 36" tall version could exist, so that'd be 138gal ( I think ) I do not like 36" deep tanks, or even 30" deep... but a bigger corner, say by bringing out the front of the tank 6" would add LOADS of room and not take that much more floor-space up...

So now that I'm done dreaming in technicolor, anyone know of anything bigger than the 92gal??

These folks make a 186 gallon corner, and they say they will make any size custom:

http://4fishtank.com/ov_corner.htm

I believe they are RC sponsors too.

Reactors are here. Gotta get some tubing to plumb them.

Thinking about changing some of the flow. I'm not too happy with the noise from the korilias right now. I'm picking up a modded mj Saturday.

One pump. I'm also thinking of running them off the same pump that runs the fuge.

Was gone for a few days and had to catch up on my corner thread reading...
Welcome Reef-ski! I have a 54g too and I'm in the process of planning/building a sump in my basement.
Hookup sorry to hear about the atom bomb in your tank. Sure you dont want to post an after pic for us?
I think my favorite fish is a puffer, but I dont have one. My tank is too small. I'd love a box fish but I wont risk it. Right now I only have a clown, a flame fish and a diamond goby. I'd love some suggestions on what I should/can add fish wise. I've honestly never really thought about adding fish to my FISH tank! haha. it's always been more about the corals and the fish are kinda an afterthought, but I'm starting to want an little more activity in there. My cleaner shrimp is agoraphobic and the other guys are just tiny. I'm in no rush to get fish (neither is my wallet)

Kelso, welcome back, if you're considering some new fish, look at some of the flasher wrasses, they're beautiful & will add alot of movement to your tank.

Jesse, I have those same reactors, I run them off one pump, but not in line. I have them T'd off, One pump Ts off in to the two reactors.

Neurotech thanks for that link, I wish I had the $$$ for the 186 I would soo jump on it, the upgrade wouldnt cost me too much on equipment since most of my equipment is rated for larger tanks. But I can only dream.
