The controller finally got to some people's hands and the hype fizzled out? What's going on?

Reefin Ross on YouTube and Slief.

Reefin Ross likes it...

I am sitting here playing with my aqua controller junior (the original one, lol). A DC8 outlet #1 is stuck on. Everything else works. When it comes down to it these things should just work and all the bells and whistles do not mean a thing in the world if it messes up and the tank gets nuked.

The more I think about this controller thing.. the more I am leaning towards Neptune's last generation of controller on clearance. It should be rock stable by now.

My neighbor got his. We are trying to figure out how to mount the display. It is huge! He has not configured anything, just trying to figure out placement is a pita because of the size.

Mine is mounted under my display refugium using their little keyhole hook hangers. Due to it's size, there was no mounting this thing to a wall or anywhere else that would leave it visible. As such, t's out of site and not visible unless the cabinet door is open which is fine since I get all my tank related stats via my iPhone, tablet and computer on an as needed basis. For quick glance specs, I have my Profilux display and Apex display mount in plain site in my fish room.

Here is the Cerebra mounted under the display fuge to one of the supports. Not ideal but it's size and integrated display kind of limits the mounting options.

I saw the "slave" 4 pump doser that will work with the cerebra, and it sort of has similar dimensions as the head unit. Are those intended to be mounted under/over as shelves? The return pump, "Stratus" also has a larger boxed controller, I wonder if anyone has pics from Vertex on how the whole set up is supposed to look like?

I am assuming that the Vertex pump can be controlled by the Cerebra as well...

Thanks for the input. My friend really wants to see the display so it will be interesting to see what he comes up with.

I think Gcarroll has seen the Stratus in person, I wonder if he can tell us how it connects to the controller?
I believe for Cerebra owners the best bet is to build a small dedicated controller compartment. That would keep everything looking sleek and accessible.

You guys can always mount it elsewhere and use a $50 tablet to control it.

The Stratus is a stand alone pump like the Red Dragon and the Abyzz it has it's own controller. You would simply use the 0-10v control to have the Cerebra control it. If enough controllers are out there they may consider (if the public demand is there) to provide a version of the pump to Cerebra users that want to bypass the existing controller but I doubt that will happen.

Pic of the prototype. I know some things have changed.

I assume you mean side loading a 3rd party app such as VNC or some other Remote Desktop for Android?

I have a Cerebra and I've been playing with it for a few days. Right now it's just controlling my heaters and I've been toying with the other functionality. The guys at Vertex have been really responsive to any questions I send them and I'm currently waiting on the details I need to make a cable to control my Kessil 360s.

The cloud functionality is still pending so things are a bit limited so far.

I'll ask to find out. I know a guy did it on the computer in one of his videos. I am told it can be done easily on a tablet as well.

If you start the VNC app on the Cerebra you can connect in from your computer. It seems a bit limited without the physical android back buttons though.

He used a 3rd party app such as a VNC to use it on his computer.

I'm pretty sure he used VNC. If so, you would need to add Google Play Store to the Cerebra and then add the VNC Remote Desktop manager to the Cerebra and then add VNC to the computer or tablet you want to control from. Having used VNC before, it's not exactly a clean remote interface and adds additional latency. Maybe I am wrong and VNC is built in but I haven't seen it in there and was surprised to find that it doesn't appear to have any remote capability out of the box though I'm sur that's being worked on in one form or another whether via the cloud or??
