I believe all BM skimmers come with exactly the same Sicci pump. They just had to restrict the BM150 model to match the body size. Looks like the BM150 will have an adjustment pipe on the exhaust.

sang,
can you measure the cup size, umm I mean the length of the cup and what the needed clearance is to twist the cup off, thank you.

Spencer, off hand, I think you need 1 3/8" to remove the cup. I think the cup size (lol!) is around 10" in diameter. I'll verify when I get home.

Personally, I think the 250 is overkill for my setup but I still enjoy it. I have a 150g tank with a 35g sump, so that is similar to your set up. I just came home a couple hours ago and fed the tank. Before it was fed, the water level was at the half way mark. Within minutes of feeding a small amount of pellets, the skimmer started to skim. This skimmer seems to skim as soon as food is added!!

crazy! skims right after feeding? do you feel that the neck is to wide to get a good skim mate? with a bigger skimmer and smaller tank the complaint is that you can only get wet skimate. the bm 200 has a narrower neck you can probably get thicker skimate.

I am on the second list for the bm 250 and there is some sort of mod that allows better control of the skimmer water level. but you are paying more.

max do you regret getting the 250 instead of the 200. i also beleive in overskimming and that is why i chose the 250 but rethinking my decision.

I don't regret it all. As I mentioned earlier, I prefer wet skimming over dry skimming any day. To be honest, if the skimmer is taking out organics as soon as I add them to the tank, that is all I can ask for. This skimmer is such a nice addition that I dont even look at my corals anymore!! This is not a reef tank with a skimmer. It is now a skimmer only w/corals thrown in!

Yeah but with that skimmer you could probably overstock fish in your tank all you want with out a prob accept aggresion. This is why I'm contemplateing it for my future 125 with 55 sump.

Wow, so the next generation has a gate valve on it? I would like to see it, and where they placed it. I like wet skimmate too, and after running a beckett for a year i got used to it.
I used to think of it as extra waterchange because it forced me to add about 5 gallons of fresh made saltwater a week.
I did my waterchanges as well, But every little bit helps.
Now i can have performance of a beckett and quiet, and energy savings of a needlewheel.
Sang I believe all the pipes are metric, So that may put a damper on your plumbing with it.
I will be making a run to canada (Live near boarder) and pick some metric sch 80 up. I can grab you some while i am there.
I have to look and see if it is metric, But i believe it is.

That would be great Creetin. I would appreciate it if you could grab me some metric fittings. I would gladly pay you for your time and expense. Thanks for the offer.

Man what a workout, These things never go easy, I had to cut a compartment out of my sump. The compartment was for a gfo or carbon, I bet carbon. This is a old scholl berlin sump with compartments everywhere. Now i have to re route the overflow piping to go around the skimmer. LOL And re work the return pump. The damn ocean runners are so damn big!!!
I am almost done but i have to run out and get pvc cement because mine dried out. Sheesh the things we do for a skimmer.
Now for the skimmer its a beast, I am glad i got it, It started pulling crud instantly. Granted my tank is a little ripe from being skimmerless, But only 2-3 minutes is all it took to start pulling crap out from being washed and plugged in,
I have to run out and get pvc cement, and after that i'll get some pics up.
Roland the neck is like 6 and 5/16 inches wide and the body is about 9 to 9 1/4. (Guesstimate) The cup is almost as big as the skimmer. LOL It came in its own package.
Greg did a hell of a job packing it.
I'll stop rattling and get my sump done.
BTW it is metric pipe. Its like an inch and 5/8ths. ID

I think they both will give you the same type of wet skimmate. less air , narrower neck=.....

Creetin,
thanks on the neck size.

Couple minutes, My back is sore from being hunched over all afternoon plumbing this thing in. LOL
No i didnt get an oring, But it doesnt leak. I will give greg a pm stating i want one when they come in.
I figured a way around the flimsy rubber hose they use to connect the pumps to the body. I took 3/4 inch spa flex and screwed that into the pump since it has threads, and jammed that into the skimmer body. Its the same size and much more stabil. It was a pita trying to get the pumps on and off in the sump. That flimsy rubber just kinked and poped off a dozen times before i took it out and looked for an alternative.
The spa flex works great!!!!

to me the skimmer looks like a very good buy.I have the tunze 9020 wich works nice but it has a hydrafoamer pump but I think its the older models. My skimmer isn't as big as the 250 I am sure.It would be nice to see it in action. My tank is down I am waiting to restart again but I will go with a 265 gal or 400 gal.I don't think I will start again with anything smaller than that.I may buy the 250 as to have 2 skimmers.I am planning on running a 150 gal sump.
