What is that glowing?

so last night when I went and looked at tank there was a pink glowing section on some recently (2 weeks ago) installed dead rock. I have LED lighting and it was under the black light setting. So I turned on the full spectrum light to see what it was and it looked clear... almost like little tiny nodes. There is no hair for tentacles coming from it at all. It is important to note that I do have live rocks and sand in the tank as well. It has been up and running now for about 7 weeks. I recently went through an ammonia spike but it appears that I now have cycled completely.

72 gallon
two clown fish
two cleaner shrimp
1 B cardinal fish (second died during spike RIP)
2 turbo snails
1 feather duster
1 blue legged hermit crab
mushrooms
green zoanthids

everything seems very happy, eating well and growing. all are babies

can not see it with a camera so a pic right now is not available.

Some kind of nudibranch. Can you get a shot of its back?
Remove if you can, you can always put him back if he's ok.

I just read they feed on hydroids, which goes along with the little outbreak of them on the glass.

It's hard to say from the image what species it is - if you can get a view from above it might help.

I'd hazard a guess that it's some Tambja or Thuridilla species - so not something to worry about, but probably not something that will survive more than a few months in the tank, anyway.

Thank you. Found two more in the refugium this morning. Did a quick look and you are correct. It looks like Thuridilla decorat.

Needing help

Hi guy's

Am new to the hobby after I inherited my stepdad tank I managed to start the clean up process after been neglected due to ill health. I have stated to notice some critters starting to come back like feather dusters but also I have found this critter that am not sure on. I was wondering if it's good or bad for my tank

I would post a picture of the back of it, and then wait for someone more experienced as I have never dealt with them before

Juvenile xanthid crab. They are extremely destructive. If you have a sump toss it in there.

It's a Gold Ringer cowry, Cypraea (Monetaria) annulus. One of the most common cowries in the hobby, and considered by most to be harmless.

I don't think it's a Thuridilla because it's too "fuzzy" and not elongated enough. It also doesn't seem to have the shape of the Tambja species I know...but a pic from above would help a lot. I'll guess that it turns out to be one of the timid little Elysia species (which are harmless, and closely related to Thuridilla), but it could still be something more sinister. ID's from the bottom are always difficult, and often impossible.

Cheers,

Don

How big can a copepod get? Most of what I have is still teeny tiny on the glass and looks like little fleas. But I just found some on a rock in the front that are bigger, 1 mmish, in size. From what I can make out they are brownish in color, seem to be a little wider at the head, and they have two little things that poke out of their butt.
I will never be able to get a decent pic on my phone since they are so small, but any ideas if these are still good pods or if they are the bad isopods?

It looks like a nudibranch of some sort. In most cases these are bad, but I'm not really sure about this one though. Maybe somebody else will chime in.

Might very well be a copepod - some species (like Tigriopus californicus) can be quite large.

It's a nemertean - mainly predatory worms. Many just feed on small invertebrates but I would remove it, if it was in my tank...
