Jeff,

Thats great now I don't have to worry about those Zoaz that I gave you ending up like the last ones ( I might have a few soon for you) and maybe the GSP will get large enough so I can have some back.

Greg,

You can have some GSP back regardless of whether it grows or not. All you have to do is continue to openly mock Jeff about not having his electrical work done.

Shame is the best motivator.

She does post under my account occasionally when I'm logged into RC on her laptop. You can tell if it's her because she always signs a post with her name at the bottom.

Yup,

Usually I don't realize until after the post has gone through that I posted under Jeff's username. Its because he keeps leaving himself logged in on my pc.

Yep, all of those plus a PBT.

btw, I did see your request for a full tank shot and/or equipment pics, but I haven't had a chance to take them. Between the frag swap, 3 QT tanks currently up and running, and ongoing stand rewiring, I've been quite busy lately. I hope to wrap some of that up very soon, and will post more pics of the system.

Christy,
Did you see the public shaming on my thread?

Jeff,
She is hard to resist.......the tank looks great but the stand would look better if you could close the doors

Jeff, there's no rush. i do remember that you wanted a PBT, and i remember there was at least one that died of an unknown cause. glad you've had success. also, what do you have in your QT again?

Yes I did and thank you very much.

Now please remember to post something on Sunday morning about how Jeff should be checking his water parameters.

Jeff,
I just tested the water in the 65, and the #s are:
Ca 450
Alk 3.4 meq/l 9.5Dkh
Mg 1350
I thought I had the dosing dialed in, but it seems that my Alk is dropping I like it to be closer to 12 Dkh.

Well its time to get back to usual Sunday tank stuff.

How is your Sunday going?

Christy I hope you have a great day

Ha, I did mine last night....

Ca: 370
Alk: 4.7 dKH

Mixed up CaCl and baked baking soda corrections, and started dosing last night to get back to 425/10. Man, I have to get my reactors online soon.

We also picked up another acro yesterday, a tightly branched tabling species. Light greenish/yellow base and blue tips. I'll try to post pics of our eunicid worm later today.

She got to you last night huh?

That's funny..... I'm off to the HD to get a tap so I can replace the John Geust fittings that broke off Kalk reactor and get it back on line.

Okay, details on the worm catching... including pics (careful if you're squeamish)

We used San Pellegrino (fizzy water like Perrier) to flush stuff out of the LR. It was VERY effective, far more than I expected. We loaded it into a large pipette and squirted it into holes in the rock. First squirt, a small pistol shrimp jumped out. Pods started bailing out. The worm apparently crawled out of the underside, and I saw his head peaking out of the side. I picked up the rock, and he was on the bottom of the bucket. Too easy, took just a couple of minutes.

I put him in a specimen container so we could snap a few pictures with the macro lens. This one was at least 1/4" wide, but only about 4" long when scrunched up, somewhat smaller than I expected.

It gets a little more interesting. About an hour after putting the rock back into water (a rubbermaid bin, not the tank), I looked in and saw another piece of worm flailing about the top of the rock. I grabbed it with the tongs and it looked just like the first, except longer - 5"+. Except this one didn't have a formed head, as if it had been cut in half sometime recently (maybe our fridmani is doing a better job controlling worms than we realized). Fast-forward to today and I found ANOTHER piece of worm on top of the rock, also about 5", also not fully intact. Whatever's in that San Pellegrino, it does some bad things to eunicid worms. Being that it's just carbonated water, maybe it's just pH shock, who knows?

At any rate, that's probably 14" - 16" of eunicid worms, and my fingers are crossed that they were all in this rock. We're vigilantly checking the tank for any evidence of mucus tunnels that would indicate other worms.

Here's a few shots of corals that have been munched on by these critters:

This used to be a healthy rounded fiji leather. Today the head is triangular, so much was take off on the various edges.

This was a matt of 20+ polyps of red palythoa. Just two left on the rock. The grey tissue is what's left of the mat, and it will regrow in time.

The polyp on the bottom left was whole just a few days ago. This plug was dragged up against another rock, and a mucus tunnel was connecting them as the worm munched away.

Jeff,

You should......She's a good woman you need to keep her happy.

Just got back from hell I couldn't find anyone that knew what size threads are on a 1/4" John Guess fitting, 2 people in the plumbing dept didn't even know what it was for. I got a manager after 6 different people (between Tools and Plumbing) that had no Idea even 2 managers. So I took one of the managers to the tool section and found a pitch gauge and gave him a little class, and found out it was a 1/4" 18 NPT Pipe tap. Sometimes I dont know what the point of going to one of the supperstores is.

Oh yea it worked like a charm.

Good job I hope that did the trick. By the looks I would think it was longer before could be why you found 3.

I like the San Pellegrino table water too, but don't think I will be drinking any now for some time.

Jeff, you should save that worm part with the head on it and see if you can sell it at the next frag swap!

More good news! Our clownfish pic was just named one of the winners of the January photo contest. 2 winners are selected each month, and at the end of the year they'll review all of the finalists and pick which will appear in the 2008 calendar.

Here's a high res version of the picture:

Thanks to everyone who voted!
