I've probably had nearly a hundred packages delivered to me over the last 5 years or so. Many of which containted livestock but most of the time dry goods and other stuff, using all of the big 4....USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL. I've also used the USPS quite a bit for shipping.
I wish I could say they've all done the job 100% of the time but it just doesn't happen. I'd say there's actually varying odds on the chance that you will not only receive your package, but also undamaged. I still give most of them a 97% chance though. So far: DHL - No problems. Last shippment of acan lords came in by DHL from CA and the box was in mint condition. No damage. UPS- Has lost one package. Shipper sent new one. FedEx- Has lost one package. Shipper sent new one. Very happy with FedEx most of the time. USPS- Very hard on livestock packages. LPS with bags punctured not uncommon. I shipped out a large frag pack with them last month and the styrofoam box the bags were in got crushed. Despite the box being labeled as 'fragile'. I was re-imbursed for shipping because it did not make it to where it was going by the next day. They are typically the cheapest over-night but plan on taking a gamble. Their tracking system is also very poor. Would not ship expensive pieces with USPS. |

I have had pretty good luck with everyone except UPS. The only time I have gotten a package that was supposed to arrive on the day of delivery was the day that the package went from out for delivery to attempted delivery unsuccessful while I was sitting at home waiting for it. I called the delivery office and told them that I was going to report the package stolen if it wasn't delivered by close of business. Amazingly the package arrived undamaged that day.
