Wow,
So this topic definitely stirred up the waters and has brought out tons of opinions, experience, and advice.

Guess I will be sticking with my PC lighting, at least for now and may sell off a MH fixture and eventually buy a smaller one.

First of all... 2 250 watts of MH on a 55g Is WAY TOO MUCH LIGHT FOR SOFTIES !
EEeK !
Depending on the tank dimensions, i would put maybe 1 250watt or 2 150 watt metal halides.

you had like 10 watts per gallon, that would have been good for Acropora, not softies.

I have 2 150 watts over my 60 gallon long, and my softies are loving me for it.
I do have a few sps as well, along with lps, they are doing well.

But the softies are thriving.
