i was thinking of having the skimmer dump into a small sump i have laying around and filling it with about 6-8" of sand or mud as well as house the chaeato then feed it via gravity back into the sump which would be full of live rock rubble

if it goes as planed there would be no pump and i believe i could eliminate the two korilas that are in the sump right now
I am a big fan of a Deep sand bed, but I have never set up a remote one. The idea seems good. Just haven't done it myself yet. I use a 4" DSB in my Display tank. Does very well with keeping down Nitrates and feeding the tank. Just have to make sure there is nothing in the tank that's going to mess with it to much. Have to make sure you don't mix it up, or all kinds of bad happens..

this is the sump i was thinking about using bc its already drilled another plus is that i have the option of running two skimmers not that this one compares to the octopus but why not use it also

so my idea is to have the skimmer pump pull from the area that the micron sock is in through the octopus and dump into this sump which would have about 6-8" of sand and cheato then over flow into the second skimmer section then overflow through the two bulkheads and back into the 75g sump to the area just after the micron sock
??????????????????????
