hello beba,
i am setting up the exact same 150g (72x18x29) I have the stand built as well.

For lights I went with 72in outer orbit 3x250w hqi with t5's & led
IMO being a deeper tank, 250w is the way to go.

I have a overflow box on mine, that goes to a 75g tank i had drilled for my sump/fuge. the overflow drains into skimmer compartment, then refugium, then resouvoir then out to return pump (iwaki 70) to display tank again.

I'm looking at a few skimmers: extreme 250, octopus 250,
ati bm 250. will be buying one in next few weeks.

I also have a typhoon III ro/di 75gpd from airwaterice.com also a reefcentral sponsor. (nice product)

my tank is going to be mainly sps corals with probally heavy fish load.

just to give you an idea since we have the same tank.

btw, its taken me about 6 months to get this far.

good luck

no, it was a good deal, right place-right time. I have a friend with a 180g with a 40g sump. so it can vary.

just think it through (research), in sump or external skimmer? internal will use up space in sump (footprint of skimmer)
you'll probally want to have a decent size fuge in a sump 20g or so dedicated for that. lots of room for chaeto to absorb nitrates & phosphates.

will you be using reactors for carbon & phostphates? the pumps will use some space as well. (usually not that much)

really there are quite a few ways to make it work. you really need to establish what you want out of your tank. corals-what kinds? fish load? etc. That will help make your decisions a bit easier, but not much (always a lot of choices)

check the selling forums, there is usually a decent amt of lighting on there.
