I have the mesh mod done. I set my bubble level lower and I'm starting to get a little foam head starting. I guess just a matter adjusting the bubbles.

Under the current load of the 58 it never looks like that, I only have 3 small fish in it. When that pic was taken the G3 was on a 125 gallon tank and I emptied ever other day, but the bio-load was very much higher. It was also taken about a week after I finally tuned the amount of air into the skimmer, one of the benefits of feeding with a meshed pump, the ability to tweak.

I only took that pic because I kept reading how the G3 was a horrible skimmer, mostly from people who never owned one, just read that others did not have success with it. In it's stock form it pales by comparison to the skimmers on the market today. FWIW I played with the amount of air to feed the skimmer for a long time before I got it right. I do not recommend these skimmers if you are buying new...however, I know they can be made to perform.

Unfortunately I didn't do any research before I bought this skimmer. I bought it based on the reccomendation of the LFS. If I did it over again I would probably buy a MSX. Maybe I'll upgrade in a year or so.
