jack.pe,

Good decision on giving away the tang. Next you can think about giving away your sandsifting star. It will quickly decimate the small amount of micro-fauna in your new tank and starve over the course of about 6 months during which time he will disintegrate. They need large established sandbeds with large tanks. I don't think they are good for a healthy sandbed personally but there are different schools of thought on that. What is clear is that a sandsifting star isn't a good choice for a 24g cube. Best of Luck!

Lisa

Thanks Lisa... I have posted in one of the Uk forums so hopefully he will get a better home soon.

Re the substrate shifting starfish.. what is a better alternative for keeping the sandbed turned over and clean? I have heard that proper cleaning gobys blow the sand all over the corals so not sure about any of these..

I swapped him for two small Ocellaris clowns! They look fantastic and I feel better that they are being kept in the right tank.. would love to find something for them to host but will have to wait and see as have another oubreak of cyano so will need parameters to stabilise more before any of the nicer corals go in...
