seio props are UL just checked product to double check.
Vortech are very nice but aren't you comaring apples to oranges as seio prop and K4-3 are 40 dollar pumps. How much is the vortex going to be if in the same price range they will sell well but if like the others they will not be for every body. I would rather spend money on nice corals. Water flow is water flow

haven't seen the 1000gph seio prop pump, my 820 wasn't. it looks like a nice design and i hope taam learned something from all of the rio meltdowns. i still like hydors low voltage pump/controller better than seio's (don't know if the new prop pump was designed to work with the seio controller), it's also closer in cost to the vortech. regardless of cost (i did chose k3's over what was available at the time), it's good to have options.

anyone notice seeing any fish or coral bothered by the volts
Yes I have had two returns this year plus several from the release date (pre-recall). Yes on 2 separate occasions deaths of coral and fish were linked to stray voltage in the tank. Soft coral and several fish. The surviving fish were reported to hide in the corner. Upon my request this customer unplugged the 3 K-4s for 72 hours at which time the tank started looking better. She returned all 3 pumps and we contacted Hydor over the matter who told us the fish were immune to the voltage. Maybe so but the coral were not. Just my 2 cents on it. She is getting an MP40 now.

Thats what they told our customer, thats all I know, could have been some one who had no clue handling complaints at least I hope thats the excuse. Could be a great product, just needs some more R&D IMO.

the new controllable koralia pumps are low voltage so i'm not that concerned about voltage leaks
I believe they are using pulsed DC voltage like Tunzes do. Always take precautions with stray voltage guys, sometimes it is doing more damage than we realize especially to coral. Have a batch of zoas not looking quite right and all parameters check out, pull out the VOM and check for stray voltage or just put in a ground probe, it can be that simple.

I contact hydor and they said to send back the pumps. Well I sent back one of my pumps (the one with the problem) and got back a new pump less than 10 days after I sent my pump in. I have not had many problems with equipment in the past, but this response and customer service was great. My pump was a 18 months old when it started to have a problem. Hydor just want me to send the pump back and they sent me a new one. No questions!
Just wanted to let everyone know how impressed I am with they service.
Phil

K4 tripped my GFCI (I had to do the unplug all method to figure out the source). I'm going to contact Hydor for a new one, but right now I'm shopping for a tunze.....
