Thanks for all the help. I ordered the above mentioned hood today and will update the thread after I receive it. Retro fit wasn't an option as I do not have a hood to retro fit and no carpentry skills to build one. All of the advice and experience is appreciated

In my pic above, that's actually the All-Glass 12" x 30" canopy. I just drilled some pilot holes and drove in some screws. I am building one to replace it though. If you have even some basic tools, canopies are EASY to make.

I'd go with building a canopy and a 4 x 24 retrofit...... does very well on my 37 gallon.... its plenty of light so no need to worry about that.... a lot of people just don't understand t5's very well.....
