Yes it is you might as well run it with no breaker to be honst i don't even think i have ever seen a 30 amp breaker i am not sure the make them in single pole

bean... you are 100% correct wow i feel dumb now i just went out and added a second breaker no one by any means do this it was stupid for me to post it and i appologize to everyone. and i found out why i was blowing breakers, it was because the landlord was running all the of the downstairs appliances .. washer and dryer off the one breaker that i replaced. i talked to him and told him what was going on and we came to the agreement that he would allow me to add the second breaker as long as i didnt do that again. he also offered me a month free rent for my extra electric bill cost but i turned it down. once again dont do this, but i still would suggest adding a breaker just for your tank.

I am glad you have taken steps to make things right. Upsizing a breaker to prevent an overcurrent condition from tripping the breaker is asking for mayhem. I am glad that you or other people were not harmed. Sometimes we do stupid things and shrug of what we know can be deadly consequences. It is those situations where need to step back and thing about our actions on a bigger scale.
