FWIW, I have my RO plumbed to a 3 gal pressured storage tank and then directly to a float valve in my sump -- BUT, I have a timer and valve on the supply line to the RO unit so that it only runs for about 3 hours per day -- enough to top off the evap for my 2 systems and keep the storage tank topped up. This way even if the float valve stuck it won't really put in much more than my daily evaporation rate. This has worked for 7 years now without a hitch.
