Country Critters is nice to stop by and look at what you want to order online from fraggers here on RC. Way to expensive to warrant the "quality" you'd get. BTW, their livestock isn't 100%. I was just in there 2 days ago and saw a couple dead fish in the tanks.

Aqua Hut is nice for drygoods, rivaling online retailers. A tad more expensive after tax and markup but worth it because you get it immediately. Be very wary of the livestock. I tend to only trust snails/hermits there.

Pets Warehouse isn't bad, it's just blah. Live rock at 11 bucks a pound. Fish don't look the greatest but not sickly. Store looks big but you find yourself done window shopping rather quickly.

..with all these issues, you'd think someone would come up with an amazing store and just blow the others away.. it's amazing

Long Island/NYC rents are very high and so is the electricity(LIPA rates are the second highest in the nation, next to Maui. NYC is either 3rd or 4th). Prices are high, but I prefer to see the livestock before I buy...so online is out for me.

I frequent Pet Barn in Franklin Square, NY and FishTown USA in Bayside, Queens. Fishtown's prices are very good and they are taking better care of their livestock than they used to. Pet Barn is pricey, but Manny(fish room manager)will work with you if he can.

Aquarium Adventure in Westbury/Carle Place has good livestock, but the prices are very high. $10 to join the club for 10% off on dry goods and 25% on livestock.

I went to the "Pets" store in Hicksville on Jericho Trpke today. Much improved since the last time I was there.. the dry goods are still ridiculously overpriced, but the fish were all looking healthy, the corals were looking good (for the most part) and there seemed to be a few new people working there. I'll definitely go there again.

the Pets Warehouse in Copaigue isn't bad.. I went there on my lunch break today. It has a lot of corals. Make sure you know what to look for in regard to fish health though. I'm excited to see their new shipment of corals they got in tonight.

They should turn more lights on though! feels like you're walking through some strange sort of dungeon.

For the most part, their prices are not just 'a little high'.. but are RIDICULOUS.. You can get good deals.. If I had a 150 gallon or larger tank, I would have picked up a great looking blue linkia star ... for only $30..I don't consider that to be outrageous. Most of their livestock (and drygoods) are much too pricey for me...

They wanted $22 for a golf ball sized bunch of Chaeto..

Yeah, Aq. Adventure is ridiculous. There prices are insane, its almost insulting. Love pet barn, and pets warehouse is decent for corals, though the fish are suspect. My friend bought an angel and it died within a week. Im gonna try that place in queens, fishtown usa, it was recommended to me by someone in pet barn last week.

If you live in western part of Nassau County, there is a great LFS in Astoria, Queens, NY with great selection and great prices. I live on the Nassau/Queens border and it take me approx. 15-20 minutes. It is called Wonderful World of Fish. http://<br /> <a href="http://WWW.W...OFFISH.COM</a>

You can also check them out on WWW.MANHATTANREEFS.COM. They are one of the vendor on this website plus many other great vendors in this area.

Is Manny still at Pet Barn? I have been there a few times and have not seen him. I thought he left. Manny is the MAN!
