I made the rubber tube as short as possible, but the inlet is still about 7-8" down. How do you get it higher?

Cool mod glad you got it to work for you. This skimmer I think is great for the money. I appreciate the better quality skimmers, but I just refuse to pay 300-400 for a couple pieces of acrylic. I loved my euro reef when I had one, but to be honest my seaclone that was replaced by the euro reef at the time produced just as much skimate as the euro reef did. Just my 2 cents

I am very interested in these mods. I can duplicate this one from the photos but I am still not sure I understand what is going on. I am confused by some of the people drilling. I guess I would like pictures or even a video explaining these mods.

I have a 65 Coralife and am very anxious about improving it.

If you can get rid of that skinny inside tube. The skimmer is a few inches wide but has that skinnier tube where all the contact is. If you make it wider you would increase contact time. I haven't really looked into this mod though.

I got one of these from a friend, and did a recirculation mod on it, i removed the tube inside the chamber also, just with a dremel and a cutting disc

i have it running in my sump right now just testing it out. only thing is that the pump leaks a tiny bit. so i don't think it would work external.

From your pictures it appears as if the tube in the center of your large clear cylinder is very close to the bottom. On my 65 the inverted cone is 4 3/4" from the bottom. Do you think it would help if I could get mine lower?

As mentioned above, if the center tube has more contact time it will be more efficient. The outer section needs to be big enough to have a slow enough flow to lessen micro bubbles getting out.
