I have 2 in my 180. I added them before knowing that they were bad. They seem fine active moving around burrowing and eating. My sandbed is not deep. Around 2" at the most. It's not meant to help with my filtration just look good. The stars have it sparkling. I also have a sandsiting goby that does great work as well. took him a little while to start coming out but hes doing well now.
