Hey Freed....***? Who made you all knowing of his relationship??? Not paying attention to her, cheating on her. Jesus! Unless youre the guys best friend I highly doubt you know the situation, like he said, long story short. Maybe she is just some crazy profanity removed Good god man, youre one hell of a profanity removed
To SoCal....good luck man. My best advice is to take what ever you can get from her and start over. I wouldnt even risk putting any lr or sand back in. Make sure to clean your equiptment thoughly (sp? sorry) with water/vinegar, and maybe even some rubing alcohol to get all that crap out. Im sorry.... Last edited by Anemone; 04/25/2009 at 11:15 PM. |

Well I figured I already got her back. Shes paying me $2500 dollars and I filed that claim on her. The thing is when I filed that claim its stays in her records for life (I think) and she wants to be a dispacther later on but that not gonna happen now beacause your background has to be clean in order to apply for that possition. So in a way I got her worse than she got me... But all in all the whole situation just sucks. Why do girls have hate us for this hobby?

Sucks bro. I would probably consider everything but the tank and equipment a loss. I would be taking pictures, and making calls (not to her) ASAP. I'd be willing to bet you could press charges for that... or at least have her forced to make restitution for the damages.
Also, I'd put money on it that she'll call you to throw what she did in your face... so make sure you record and save that call or message. The best advice I can give you... don't retaliate and brush it off.

It's time to move on and start fresh. Clean the tank like everyone said. Find a new place, new girl friend. Take it as a sign to get away. Sounds like the kind of girl that in the future would get mad at you and drive your kids into the ocean to back at you. You already did what you had to so don't stoop to her level as you already said you wont. Sorry to hear about it.

I would think that the rock is salvagable. I'd scrub it down and the "cook" it (kept in darkness with frequnet water changes) and seeded with some new liverock. The soap is not like copper which can leach for a long time.

I have to be honest, my view on the matter lies somewhere in the middle. I am just sick for you to go thru such a painful tragedy. That is just such a heartless gesture. We truly dont know the circuitry of your relationship either...truly. The story is no doubt deeper than this thread. I love my reef very much, I spend too much time and money on it, but if I thought for one second it was any kind of wedge between my wife and me, it'd be out the door the next day...or maybe the day after that.... Really sorry for your loss man. Good luck with everything.

Wow, that realy SUCKS! It sounds like you have had a rocky relationship for a while, I understand how hard it is to get out of a love/hate relationship, so if your not going to get rid of her then be very carefull with anything of great value to you (tank ect..) Because it wont be the last thing she destroys.

id like to see the officer try to keep a straight face while you explain that you want to file charges cause the messed with your fish tank.
i wouldnt be thinking of ways to spend that $2500 either . the disappointment will hurt that much more. that restraining order crap doesnt work either. the rule with domestic problems is, the woman always wins. |

What she did is absolutely absurd and she should be punished to the full extect of the law.
To those who defend or make excuses for this girl as to why she did it, please don't ever have children. This is exactly what is wrong with society as a whole, nobody is willing to hold others responsible for their actions. In the end whatever the situation is all she had to do if she was mad or upset was say good-bye (the adult response by the way); however she chose to destroy anothers property and that is illegal and she should be punished. |

Man, theres alot of harsh words and arrows starting to fly here. What would this thread be like if it went like....
"My tank totally crashed, everythings dead, Im devistated, but I came into $2500 and I can start a new one" Or maybe the girlfriend registers here and we hear her side of the story. Not that theres any excuse for her atrocity, but we are only peering into a small window of the whole situation.

She's just a crazy... No where did he say the tank was the wedge. She just attacked something he loved to be spiteful. I would ditch everything but the tank and equipment and start rinsing and repeating.
Get your money back change the locks to you place and the car if she has keys to that, and try to get on with your life. I feel for you and hope that it works out as best it can.

On the subject at hand, it's time to find a new girlfriend. Seriously, if she could possibly, in any way, think this was "okay" or justified, I'd be worried about the future. Get out while you can.
