WavePoint is one of the guys that started current. It is prob made in the same factory as all the other fixtures in china. But over all i am very very impressed with them i have the 48in wave point fixture.

Via the company i get the product from. I run a shop in tulsa ok. I was worried about brining the fixtures in because i heard all the rumors about them being tied to taam and via aqua they are amazing firxtures i have one at home now built like a tank totally sealed im sure you could put it underwater and it would run. They have alot of small details they look into and i also like the bulb colors alot.

I've seen them in my LFS and they look really good. The only thing I'm worried about is how long they will last. My LFS manager told me to hold off on buying them till he has them in his display tanks for 6 months so that he can monitor the quality. I was completely surprised when he told me that. fyi, he also told me that they are made by the same person who worked with Current.

Jenni, I'm out of the country, so I can't take pics, but I'll try and help. In any case, it's really hard to get accurate pictures with a camera which will show the true colors and intensities of the bulbs and for them to have any significance, you'd need to see pictures of the bulbs alone (i.e. not in a mix, as they are in my set up). As a rough guideline, the 420nm 03 actinics look very similar to any other actinic, except maybe a tad brighter. The 460nm blues are the same as other blues, except definitely a bit brighter. This description is frankly more accurate than anything I could get to show up in a picture. I realize you want pictures that will show you exactly what you're getting, but the best way may be to bite the bullet and buy one of the bulbs to test out yourself.

If you go to wave-point dot com you can see the spectrums of the bulbs. That will definitely be more accurate than any picture I could take.

Hope that helps.

I have the 36" fixture and have had it for about 3 months. Its great so far. The colors of the bulbs are very appealing and the fixture is made very well, good quality. The only downfall is that all four bulbs are hooked to one switch, so they all turn on at one time. I have another fixture on this tank so I turn that on first, then the 4 bulb fixture comes on.

I used to have a metal halide and t5s on this tank, I love now with this new fixture as everything is illuminated very nicely.

Here are some pics for you guys, The tank is a 70 gallon.

Im sure this happens, and im sure if it happened to me i would be posting the pics online as well...but what are the odds?

Also, Jenn here are some pics of the daylight bulb and the 460 nm over my frag tank. I am using a 2 bulb T5 retro with an advanced ballast and Ice Cap SLR's.

Sorry the shades are different, im using a P&S and i was blocking some of the light at times to get less glare.

does anyone know how difficult it would be to rewire the wavepoint so one power cord controls the whites and one controls the actinics?

have a solarflare also. interested on your review of bulbs. have had problems with a few bulbs not lasting as well. i tried out some of the new icecap bulbs for this reason & had one of those go out early. got them for 15 bucks each so i gave them a try. most 420`s don`t last very long in my solarflare. but i like the higher par blue bulbs anyway so no big deal

Ah, I have experienced this same problem, and was beggining to think it had something to do with the 2 bulb ballast in my Solar Flare.
Anyone post this in the Aquatinics forum?

It will void the warranty. Also, i beleive that one ballast is used for all 4 bulbs.
