Almost finished the cab and hood, few little bits to go..
Also picked up a regulator and bubble counter. Do any of you run a kalkwasser reactor with your calcium reactor? How well do they work together?
Ive booked two days of work, a week on Monday and Tuesday, so hopefully that will be the weekend i get water in it.
pics...

I really like how you put your controller in the hood like that. Good looking stand.

Cant wait to see more. My wifes birthday just sucked up a light fixture sheeesh! Anyway I will probably be doing some plumbing work this weekend and if I get that done then I will do a water test and find my high and low levels for my sump. Think Im going to do another batch of rocks this weekend as well.

Hay Mark, just a thought, 6-7 hrs of MH light/day seems to result in better colors for most; maybe you might give that a try.

Gill thanks - it was a pain in the a*s to get aligned to be honest! im pretty happy with the stand, the pics arent very good ill try to get some better ones if i finish it today. So you have water in yours now? you just gonna cycle it without lights because thats okay to do.. may be a time saver.

Dancewithethan - Is that so, i may drop the halides back to llam then, better colors with the sps you mean? i was under the impression it was a steady 8 hours a day. Thanks for the advise!

Wow thats a really nice set-up. I like the dimensions of the tank...seems like the perfect size for a solid scape. Definitley gonna follow your progress on this.

Robs.Mark, that overflow is SWEET. Great looking tank all around but that overflow is soo nice.
Can't wait to see how you like it and how it works for you.
Thanks. :-)

Haha yeah i was going to say Gill that you should have bought your wife a T5 set-up for her birthday!!

Thanks Abríl, On my current system i have the bottom of the tank drilled 30mm overflow and 25mm return, It was a mistake through lack of experience and i hate it! It gargles, makes aquascaping near impossible, and ive has two very near misses with floods (caught it with about 1 liter on the floor both times, lucky!). This over flow in 50mm and its staying that 50mm all the way to the sump! i dont want any floods and im hoping it will be fairly quiet. The other bonus is that it frees lots more space in the tank so i can scape properly this time! Joy!!

Yes. I didn't mean I'm coming to your house and taking your tank but if you keep up the good work I might be tempted. My main issue is lighting at this point. I don't have much room on top for MH but I want at least 8 t5s. Or I could go with the outer orbit fixture...decisions decisions.

HAHA, you'd have a fair trip to do that! 8 t5's would crank heaps of light out anyhow, outer orbit is also a good idea.. May i ask why you dont have enough room? couldnt you just make a new crown?

The tank sits below a bar that is in the next room. I have about 60 inches (give or take ) to work with. I've always wanted to go to Austrlia anyway.. what better excuse. I would have a hard time in customs with 90gal of water as my carry on!

Yea I could see it now. Package at the door...my wife "hey, whats that?" me "oh, your birthday present just arrived!" wife "honey you shouldn't have, can I open now?" me "Heck yes I cant wait any longer!" wife "What is this anyway?" me "Oh its the light fixture for our reef tank and I am gonna help you put it in today." me again " honey, where are you going? Why do you have my credit card? When will you be home......... 7 hours later some ear rings a few dresses and who knows what else..... NO SIR I did the right thing.

As for the water no none yet. I went yesterday to find my fittings I need for the plumbing and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. So maybe today I will go to another hardware store. If I can get all that done then I want to run a water test to make sure that big sucker dont leak anywhere. I still need to get my RODI unit and may order that next week or so. Like I said Im in no real big rush.\

You however seem to have everything you need and we shouldnt have to keep waiting on you!

Haha yes, second thoughts, maybe you did the right thing! I also need to order a RODI unit, i currently buy my rodi and natural filtered ocean water form my lfs at $1 per gallon.
I also need fitting, a co2 bottle and so on and so forth! A friend of mine, who incidentally just asked me to be his best man, is bringing me a 30 tank he just had made so i can house my live-stock over this coming weekend. I have 4 days off work to keep it up and running. Im also having a huge problem trying to connect my controller to my laptop, hopefullt have that sorted this weekend, plus today i set up the top half electrics, and im a cable missing for the controller, again, hopefully this week will have it sorted. arrrrgggggghhh! so much to do!

Pics of todays progress, still needs a little more tidying up, there's so many wires! When i close my current tank down i will transfer the other metal halide to my new system and this week im going to pick up some 6mm stainless rod and make them height adjustable.

Looking good. Good news on the 30 and being able to keep the stuff at your house, I would think. I would ask you what is the issue with getting your lap top hooked up but then you would have to explain what the lap top is doing hooked up to your fish tank and then I would have to have that and well lets just stop there. Speaking of computers I have had one of those die today and it looks like Best Buy is about to get my RODI money SHEESH! I cant even kiss them!

Its all good, I may go sell a kidney or something.....

give blood, its less painful! Lap top needs to hooked up to the controller to set it up, lights, pumps, calcium reactor, etc all run through it. You can do it with the controller but its supposed to be much simpler through pc (plus i spent $100.00 on a cable now so i got to connect :-) ) Sucks about your laptop, thats gotta be lighting and RODI money down the drain. damn! come on Gill we need more pics!

Right okay, I got the skimmer through today assembled it along with the calcium reactor..

I also put a little more of the plumbing together, the drain line is pretty much done, and most of the feed line is done.

I still need to finish the inside of the cabinet. Tomorrows job!

One more of my lazy puppy, shes a dobie X 10 months old!

I also ordered an expansion card for the Profilux so I can run the lighting and the pumps. It amazes me how you buy a controller for almost $1000 and you pretty much have to spend that again to get it to do the things you bought it for in the first place.
I still need to pick up a Co2 bottle, finish the cabinet, figure out how to connect and set up the controller, and finish the plumbing before the weekend. Also my mate who was gonna help me with the set up at the weekend has thrown his back out, so I need a new helper! Any takers? If you jump on the plane you can probably make it for Friday! haha!!
While ive got the camera out here's one of where the tank will be in the living room, I will move the chiller behind the black sofa and if my measurements are right it should fit well, may have to move the mirror though..

Good find on the CO2 tank. Yea I noticed on the controller when I started pricing them that it would take mega bucks to get it to run all the stuff. Very nice but will be a while before I get there. For now I will rely on the hey Honey will you turn the moon light on and turn off the SUN! LOL jking.

I hope to be back in motion with my tank soon. I have ordered my doors <------cheated there but hey they should look nice. So your gonna set the tank up this weekend????????????? ooooooooooooo ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....
