Anyone had sucess with a trigger in a reef? - Page 2

i have a niger in my tank for about 5 months now. doesnt bother any corals or any fish that is already in there.

the last time i added a new fish or any new shrimp, it quickly became dinner. now when i add cleaner shrimps or peppermints, i do it at night when he is sleeping. in the morning, he doesnt even notice the new guys.

as far as fish goes, ive since stopped adding. the tank is doing great with the existing fish, and i dont want to ruin their dominance ladder by adding anyone new or risking ich or disease.

but all in all, the niger is a great addition to my tank.

I have a mated pair of crosshatch's in my tank, They have never in 3 years touched anything. Here is a crappy phone pic of them and one of my harliquin shrimp. I have 8 cleaner shrimp 6 fire shrimp probably 25 peppermints 3 harliquin's and countless other little fish and inverts. Never a problem.

been rockin a clown trigger about 9 months or so in a 220 agressive reef tank. hes my perfect lil angel, wont even defend himself when others pick on him. dosent eat shrimps or crabs, never even looks at a coral. even my maroon clownfish pushes him around. got him at about 3.5" and nows hes around 5-6"

You should expect that specie to be aggressive.

I had a niger in my tank for about 6 months. He didn't bother any coral, crabs or shrimp.
