I'm in the middle of a new tank build and over the past 7 days have purchased over $500 in equipment, now I can't even view??? Like I said in another thread, I READ and don;t just simply ask the same questions as others for the 100th time in a thread.

however in the last 6 years of being a member you could have answered some questions from newcommers who need assistance by letting them know your views and experiences, this is also contribution and participation.someone like you could get 50 posts up in a few days by genuinely helping newbies, i dont understand why the mods and admin guys are getting a hardtime over this, theyare not being very hard to you guys really.

That is odd. I have been able to access the site the past week or ever since I signed up and then today it is gone.

We call that "padding your post count" and it doesn't qualify as participating here.

Was there a problem occurring in the Buy and Sell forums with members under 50 posts? Seems kind of ridiculous to me. But who am i, i dont have 50 posts.

NOt very fait to those of us who are newer. Iwould like to be able to purchase used equipment from the members on this forum. The local fish store is quite expensive, although very helpful.

i agree and apologize to you larry. i try not to be a post padder on any forum i belong to but was just trying to reach the number to get the sale forums back up. i have had that forum for a while now and it's one of the first i go to as i am still putting together my setup.
i have asked the "standard newbie" questions already so i tend to just look and read for the time being. as my project progresses i will be able to post more informative posts. |

How about being able to buy if you are under 50 posts but just not sell yet until you hit that benchmark? That way you are not limiting the buyer pool but still rewarding those 'active' members while ensuring quality sellers. This will also keep new members on the site....allowing them to buy the used equipment they need to enter and stay in the hobby! Thanks for all your work mods, we appreciate it! Just some thoughts to ponder.

It was that way up until this afternoon.. You couldn't post either way but you could at least PM the seller and make purchases.

I am also curious if now that I have hit 50 if it should be automatic that I see those forums or does a mod have to change my permissions.

I do not post much because I am a newbie, I look at other posts to learn from them, however my reefing knowledge is limited. I was also in the middle of buying a pump. I just think that they should have warned us or sent us a email and give us a chance to start posting if thats what they wanted before our privlidges were taken away.

Its really too bad, I wish all of you who have had what it looks like a lot of experience, would share more......you must have opinions about things.....other than this......
Newbies and not-so shouldn't be intimidated about posting, that is why TeamRC is here....to help make sure you get the help you need. The "New to the hobby" forum is a part of RC where you can learn with others without feeling like your asking a "dumb" or "stupid" question.....as they never are. As well, you can ALWAYS pm one of the TeamRC members that will help you or point you in the right direction if they can't. So the average lifespan for a Reefer is about 1.5years.....participation will help you learn more and faster than on your own....in fact, I "relearn" or verify things all the time.....so it works both ways. Because it becomes more of a "teamsport" than a "individual".....you will be in the hobby longer......even in times you don't have a tank. So we tried it your way......now try it my way........I bet you will agree once you get into the groove.

Interesting note on the life span of a reefer... I would have expected it to be a lot less because there are some many people who try it and the exit out quickly after
