In a 5-stage RO/DI, I'd rather have 2 DI stages than two carbon stages. That allows more complete use of the DI resins before discarding them.

I looked through your 2009 report. No sign of chloramines being added.

So one carbon stage ought to be fine.

My water company uses ozonation and chlorination so I would only need a 4 stage correct?

Randy, so would you put DI at stage 3 and again at stage 5?

I looked up water quality for my home town and only see chlorine and chlorine dioxide listed as residual from disinfectant so I'm assuming they do not use chloramine. Is this a safe assumption?

Confirm before you purchase in your area if whether or not you have Chloramine in your water source. If you do, get one that filters that junk out as well

But 5 stage is the way to go

Like Russ said - having a 5 stage RO/DI unit is not necessary or in this case, 2 carbon stages unless you have chloramines. If you're going to get a 5 stage just to get a 5 stage, I would run dual DI rather than 2 carbon stages.

I ran a 4 stage unit with my last tank for 12 months & produced 0 TDS everytime.

I'll be moving to college soon and I don't know where I'll be going so just to be safe I'll get two carbon stages and add an extra DI if I need it later.

Thanks for the comments!

I miss spoke here and would like to correct it. I was comparing a 5 stage to a 6 stage in my head, not a 4 to a 5. It is going into 6 stage that my previous statement makes any sense. My apologies.
