I would wait before buying from petco they dont have that great of a selection.

I would avoid Purple Tech. If it is anything like Purple Up, it won't do anything. Purple Up contains aragonite, which won't dissolve at our pH levels. Best case, it is just an expensive way to keep up your calcium and alk.
Like ihavtats29 said, just use a good 2-part solution (calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium) to keep your levels up. Without any corals at first, you probably won't need to supplement anything. Water changes will be enough for a while. Once you are ready for corals, get some good test kits and measure your calcium, mag, and alk before you start dosing them. HTH, -Steve
