Not sure where you got your data from, but Apogee's budget PAR meters are close enough for our purposes to the Li-cor $2000 per unit equivalent. As far as calibration is concerned, photons are photons. See this article: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2005/7/review/
My data comes from my own testing and experiences. While working a show this weekend in Utah I had an opportunity to talk with Kieth the Apogee rep about these things. he acknowledged all of what I listed above. He also said the Stellarnet equipment I use is ideal.

I don't want to argue with you.

Good luck with the group buy.

I am not trying to be inflammatory. There is such a thing as discussion that isn't an argument.

You are comparing laboratory grade spectroradiometers that cost thousands of dollars to a $300 field meter. Of course they trump it. My point is that without dropping a whole lot of money, apogee is as good as you are going to get.

i have one and love it. it is the new data logging one. the software is pretty crude but still you can get a lot of good info. i wasn't getting as much light as i thought i was until i got the meter going.

measure the output of those new bulbs and you will know when it is time to replace them.
even if the measurement is a little off it will still be consistent in your situation.

Hi. I'm interested in one, too. But, can you run by the details again?

Thank you.

I already had one (the red one) but never had the opportunity to use it so I sold it about 1.5yrs ago.

Those of you who want one and are SCRK members let's talk at the meet. Those who aren't and want one send me another pm or email. If I don't have the actual 20+ by Sunday evening it's off. I have 32 pms from out of state don't wanna make fedex richer and I'm way to busy 9-5 to deal with shipping.

It's off, no go! Out of staters overwhelm the locals 4 to 1. I had 16 for sures and 1/2 of them from San Fran area. We gave it a try though!

It was to be done in person and in cash before I put it on my AMEX. LOt of folks thought I was gonna ship, not real interested in shipping 12-16 par meters, I work 60+ hour weeks. But if someone else wants to get this going I got my $ ready, and we have 9 definites here in SOCAL.

If you want to put it on your card you have to have 20+ folks plus payment. Like I said if you want to ship, start a new thread I am in for a meter if you do it.

Well I wouldn't mind doing the shipping, but can you give me the logistics on how to set this up. I'd have to get payment up front of course through paypal or some other method. I'd probably use USPS Flat Rate Priority Shipping with Delivery Confirmation & Insurance to send the units out in a cost effective manner.

Anybody Up for this?

LMK where to start this up. I'm switching to LEDS which makes this a Very Important Tool.

I was thinking about using this as a shipping container. I can buy the remaining packing peanuts to protect the meters while in transit. USPS Flat Rate Priority Shipping Medium Box

Solid for the 70$ you will save trust me just buy it and be done with it.

I was doing it to be cool and a nice guy and get everyone the discount. For 70$ you will be working super hard for it, and thats if no one flakes, which you know will happen.

2. Esteban

I know MEd red needs one and Denash said he wanted one and Mario wanted one but dude its an uphill battle.

GL I like the commitment though.
