you could try hanging them higher and switching out the lenses to get higher spread and see how things look/go. if needed, you could always buy another module

I set the height of the light that way so I could turn the lights up a little more. Other wise with the fixture being closer to the water it will fry things or you need to turn them way down.

Completely agree with you there are several other choices out there for led lighting. Several threads on here talking about all the other kinds of lights, the post was asking about these specific lights though.

I was also trying to point out that you don't need to have 1 module for a 12" x 12" x 12" area either. Change the optics, raise it a little more and you can cover a 24" x 24" x 24" area easily enough.
I've to disagree with you that 400+ PAR is enough for SPS, perhaps some easier ones like monti's, stylo's but not the most demanding acro's.

The norm for Acro's would be 500-600 PAR at least, and some will require even more.

I've explained in the following thread that, while some SPS will do fine under say 500-600 PAR, from my experience some will only show their most brilliant colors under 800-1000 PAR:

While AI Sol have more than enough juice for that, you have to hang it lower in order to achieve the PAR needed, and thus, reducing the coverage to about 12-15"x12-15" mostly.
