Seriously it works. Same theory as putting oil on a cars oil filter oring before installing.

If they are so tight you cannot get it off its best to replace the canister anyways. Pretty much every container I have seen that broke was overtightened.

Plumbers silicon grease from lowes or home depot is what I put on my brs unit. It will come in handy later with other plumbing jobs too. It's cheaper than KY and doesn't taste like strawberry's and sadly no tingle sensation.
