The tanks in the previous page are 36" and they use 4 modules. I'd say you probably just need 3.

Aquarium speciality's site says they'll be available July, which is great.

These look awesome, promising, and versatile. However, there's no info on these! What's the guidline for these? How many modules per foot? What are these capable of keeping? PAR measurements? Considering they're powered by cree's and other high end LED's, the PAR should be good, yet there's too little info.

I'm seriously checking these out, I just hope some more info is released.

These are growing on me - fast! I know were all trying to figure out the details; howevr, I'm curious to know - if you buy a dual setup, get a larger tank and want to add a third light - is the mounting bar expandable?

So is this the Maxspect v3, or is this something totally new and different?

Edit to add - just checked pricing at Aquarium Specialty. Wow, these are pricey. Seems to be more than the AI Sol's

At Aquarama the Maxspect rep told me they'll not be releasing any "G3" fixtures, because they are moving away from the "Gx" naming.

Mazarra's would be the next product to be released by them, and probably more down the pipe.

Anybody do some real deal research or have opinions on the rebel and bridgelux LEDs used in these fixtures? How do they stack up against the current standard, Cree xpe's? I'm trying to make a comparison between AIs and these Mazarra fixtures (discounting fixture aesthetics and mounting of the fixtures themselves). Just performance, or speculative performance at this point. They seem to be close enough in price point. 16 LEDS in Maxspect versus 24 in AI's. So what's up LED gurus, any speculative points to be made yet?

Ditto, also, I burn things with my 3 watters @ 40% power. I am sure glad these are dimmable the five watt cree emitters might be overkill!? I do like the idea of the interchangable optics on each LED maybe bringing down the BURN factor.

Well according to the specs now posted on the Maxspect site, the Philips Rebel chips will be running at 1000mA, which should produce more light than the Cree XP-E, but the blues aren't the main source of raw PAR anyway, it's there for the color and for that the Rebel is superior than the XP-E.

p.s. RB is censored here on RC.

Wow, these look fun, but I can decide between 2 P-series or 3 S-series. I wonder if the rebels being driven at 1000 ma restricts which leds you can replace. Bridgelux looks like they should be pushed only at 700?! Since most of the replacement colors are bridgelux they would be over driven in the rebel slots and most likely damage the diode. An S series with XM'ls and rebels might be plenty for a tank thats only 20 inches high. Hopefully we'll get more info about coverage soon so we can all start making decisions. Those picture from aquarama have me thinking you might need 1 unit per
12-18"s for good even coverage.

I really have no idea, they didn't list the information on their website, but I think by using different optics it'll cover different sizes of tanks.

i pre-ordered a set/trio of the P series to go over a 36" x 18" tank. funny thing i noticed is it doesnt add up to 60W, or 50W...just a bit short. im usually extremely thrifty and would definately have waited for the more economical S's. i think the differences between the bridgelux and philips vs. the 'holy grail' cree may be in our heads. the LED manufacturers have stepped up there game, technology wise so im sure the end product(s) are much better than say a year ago. im pretty excited to get ahold of these.
