I took both from the guy and am going to see how it is running 2 on my 48" tank. It was still 1/3 the price of just 1 ai sol. Cheap enough that of it doesn't work out, I'll move on to t5s.
I like the size more than anything as I have a small canopy, too small to mount sols, they would only be about 4" off the top. |

I picked up a used 36-48 for my 65g but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it. Three LED's burnt out, which I fixed by jumpering out the bad LED, so I'm down one white bulb out of the 42.
I'm not sure about the spotlighting either. It's good for now while I build my system but it will likely end up being my sump/frag light. They are very bright.

Marineland 48 reef capable LED, On my 110G
So I have on my 110G deep tank the Aquaticlife 6 bulb t5 48 fixture and for some extra light I have the Marineland 48 reef capable LED, I think it’s causing green algae growth in my tank especially on the glass where its positioned at the front side of the tank & then I have the Aquaticlife 6 bulb t5 in the middle / back side of the tank is it possible that it can cause that since it’s NOT one of the high end LEDs
( I do think they help with my coral growth ) |

I don't like the light personally. Too low light to grow anything much unless you have multiple, and for that cost you might as well buy something better like a reefbreeders.

I owned 1 a generation or 2 back, like 2 years ago. They were giving them away at MACNA and that's just what they were worth... nothing. They couldn't color up sps frags in a 6" deep tank! the legs are way too flimsy and the powder coat started to peal off the legs so they rust. The power supple plug corroded out of the end of the fixture at just over 12 months. I was never happy with it and glad to toss it.
You can get way better led fixtures for a fraction more cost at OceanRevive or Reef Breeders or EverGrow.

Same experience with these. Not great. Better to get cheap t5 or spend a bit more for better LED. 8 months in LEDs started burning out. I have the light on my quarantine tank now jumping out 3 bad LEDs.

I have the a single over a 29 with mushrooms,a couple zoas, and a single frogspawn. I'm not getting great growth, but the tank is just for my sons room. Everything has been maintaining just fine.

I've got an 18-24" and while it doesn't do great on the bottom of a 20"+ deep tank it does alright for what it is. If you can find one cheap go for it. You arent going to do well with nice sps so dont expect that and don't pay retail as the reef breeders light is a much better idea though you'll have to figure out how to hang it.
Mine is about 15months old and works fine, no burn outs, no rust, no degradation I can see. It may be that every week when I do maintenance on the tank I wipe it w a damp rag to remove creep and dust. It still looks new IMO. |

Whoever said "they suck" hit the nail on the head. There's a million threads about these...
You guys do understand they have the output of maybe a couple t5 bulbs, really old t5 bulbs.lol. No controllability, too white, not enough blue, not enough PAR, way overpriced and they break, jeez, what's not to like, eh? Do yourself a favor and buy reefbreeders/evergrow or something that is not marineland or 1w. I just sold the first gen model I had for $10,now the guy wants my 4x24w fishneedit t5ho. |
