I've heard pistol shrimp can break tank glass, is this true or just Bologna?

You will not have to worry about the pistol shrimp breaking the tank glass. Even 99% of Stomatopods(Mantis) can not break tank glass.
I also wouldn't worry about the pistol shrimp killing a healthy fish. They are not predatory like that. They will eat small inverts like small crabs or small shrimp. I finally got to see mine take out a small peppermint shrimp that was stupid enough to hang around one of the cave entrances too long. I haven't lost any of my larger shrimp like full sized pepermints or cleaners. If you have small ornamental shrimp like Harlequin Shrimp I would be worried about them if they got near the caves. Anything near the cave entrance that is not nailed down is fair game to include in their structural engineering projects including snails and crabs. Snail shells and small rock rubble is perfect for them. If you can give them a good selection it can be fun watching them turn each piece over and over trying to pick out just the right one.

I should specify most pistol shrimp are not predatory to the point of taking out fish. There are a couple variations of pistol/snapping shrimp that are not goby safe. The tiger and banded (var.colors) pistol shrimp are safe. Some pistol shrimp don't care to create a symbiotic relationship like a bullseye.

I ended up getting a half pound of rubble rock to help with the building material supply. My poor hermit had no shells to choose from because they were are nabbed by the shrimp so I had to get more of those too.
I hear a pop once in a while if anything comes near the cave & a few weeks ago my peppermint was dumb enough to go half way in & then I heard the pop & he ran like a bat out of hell, lol. The pistol has rushed the peppermint on occasion when it's feeding time & the peppermint gets too close to the opening, otherwise he is a perfect citizen & in his defence my peppermint is a pia...
