Awesome job, man. Woodworking is intimidating to me for some reason, haha. Your stuff looks great.

Moving day.

Started off with getting roughly sixty gallons of salt water and sixty pounds of Fiji pink sand from my local fish store.

We then returned and filled up the tank with the new saltwater and sand.

Then if was off to get all my equipment and rock from the old setup.

All loaded up.

Next it was back to the new tank to plumb and hook up all my equiptment.

The dust storm left over from the new sand.

Next up was to put all the rock in the tank.

After all the rock was put in the tank and the system was running.

Things finally started to settle after about a day.

Next up is aquascaping and much more, thanks for looking!

Thanks! I'm real happy with everything so far.

Next up was finish up all the little things such as plumbing and mounting the doors.

Used some PVC to place the returns at each side of the tank.

Also got the hardware on the doors and the doors on the tank. Went with stainless steal handles and hinges. They are kind of hard to see in the pictures from the tank glare.

Its been a while since an update, I have been busy with the start of the new year. But I have gathered a few new parts for the tank I have been wanting.

Reef Keeper Lite Level 3.

Two MP10 ES W's with a battery backup.

Lastly, a new return pump. Sicce 3.0.

I have also settled on an aqua scape...for now.

The above picture is a few months old. Since then I have a pretty bad green hair algae outbreak. I recently replaced my halide bulbs with new ones and have been conducting weekly fourteen gallon water changes. I source my RODI premixed saltwater from a local LFS. I personally tested their water for nitrate, phosphate, and silicate also brought them a sample of their own water without them knowing and it checks out good.

Beyond that I have cut back my lighting to only four hours a day and cut back feeding. Also, I ran Oceans Blend phosphate/silicate remover(aluminum oxide pellets) with no results. The only thing I have not attempted is to run GFO, so yesterday I ordered a dual media reactor from BRS and two pounds of bulk GFO and carbon.

I hope that this will begin to subside the algae growth because I am running out of possible solutions!

Look into dosing vinegar, I've had great results with it so far in terms of being able to feed how much I want and how low my nitrates and phosphates are. Dosing vinegar will decrease you pH initially so go slow. Also check you alkalinity becuase if it's too low the algae will thrive more. If alkalinity is in proper range or on the high side like 10-12 dKH this will help deter the algae. The tank looks great so far keep up the good work!

Thanks for the kind words. The tank is hanging in there. I'm battling a pretty bad hair algae issue currently. I NEED to hook up my BRS dual media reactor and get some GFO in there tonight! Hopefully this will begin to help out!

The tank is hanging in there. I started running GFO and Carbon in a BRS dual reactor. The combination of the two seems to be slowly doing the trick. I have also got a five stage RO/DI running at home now. That makes doing frequent water changes over the past few months A LOT easier compared to transporting water from the LFS.

I hope to be green hair algae free soon!

Thanks for checking in RC.
