That's why I drilled holes in the piping.

It would be no more stagnant than having him dig his own tunnel in the sand.

I am coming up on a year with my edge nano, and it just keeps getting better. The only problem I haven't solved with it is a good effective affordable light that fits in the little "canopy" lid and still lights the whole tank. (Hint xenon, *poke* lets see your light).

Do you think getting a higher powered aquaclear would be good for flow, instead of a vortech??

I don't think that would work without modifications to the spine of the tank stand, the Fluval Edge aquaclear is just large enough to take up all the space, horizontally. That said, I'm sure there is another HOB that would fit.

I will get some pics up in the next few days.

My tank completed its cycle today so I added a cleanup crew (1 astrea snail and scarlette hermit crab).

I will be adding in my fish this weekend and I will take a pic of the tank its in its current FOWLR state.

I am trying to take pics but none of them are turning out.

I have a DSLR set on TV (time value) so that I can adjust the shutter speed to 1/1500. That way, not too much light gets into the lens and blows out the pic. I also put a piece of white cutting board inside the tank with the light on and took a pic of the white board and set a custom white balance. No matter what settings I try, it just does not end up looking anything like it does in person.

My god damn iPhone4S takes a better pic.

Sorry guys. If any of you can help with my settings, I would love to give it another try.

This was the best I can do.

If anyone has tips on what settings I should play with on my DSLR cam for taking pics, that would be great. I am not liking LED for photography at all.

Looks great !
Have the same tank with the nanocustoms LEDs.
Was thinking about an mp10. How's it working for you?
Does it blow any sand around?
I was thinking about putting mine long ways. For some nice flow.
Won't be abLe to crank it still

The MP10 is great but you loose the HOB filter if you place it where mine is. It was not a big deal for me because I was not planning to use it anyways.

The MP10 is perfect on the lowest setting. Absolutely no sand blowing around.

Can you change the optics in the SOL Nano to get a little wider spread? It looks very concentrated in the center of the tank.

We are working on practically the same set-up right now. Can you describe and/or post pics of how you placed the AI Nano.

Thanks for keeping this thread updated!

The pic makes it look worse than it is in person. I really wish I could get a real world pic of my setup.

Check out page 1. I posted pics of how I mounted the light inside the hood.

I have lived with the AI LED module for a while now. I have been tweaking my settings often enough and these are my final results.

Timer 1: 8:00am (actinic)
0% WH, 25% BL, 50% RY - 180min Ramp

Timer 2: 11:00am (daytime)
18% WH, 25% BL, 50% RY - 180min Ramp

Timer 3: 5:00pm (actinic)
0% WH, 25% BL, 50% RY - 180min Ramp

Timer 4: 8:00pm (moonlight)
0% WH, 1% BL, 1% RY, - 180min Ramp

Honestly it's look really neat.

My only concern is the LED. I hope the beamish look won't burn coral and the shady part have enough PAR for a good coral growth

Awesome looking tank. I want a small tank on my desk or downstairs kitchen like yours. Def something to look into after seeing your setup.

BTW: Your bucket tank was looking pretty cool too lol

Yes. With a tank this small, its easier and cheaper to do large water changes.

The lighting spread is definitely a compromise with the design of this tank. I can't do anything about it unless I ditch the stock hood and then the whole design of the tank is thrown out the window.
