Black worm culture - done it successfully?

Are you able to maintain a large enough breeding colony without supplementation? Or are we just keeping them pretty much in a worm live well and resupplying from the lfs every couple weeks?

I am just using an aqualifter for the return...very gentle stream in the upper tray. I have a small HOB filter for the lower tank.

I haven't been doing this long enough to know. I did break up an algae wafer to feed them...most of it appears gone today. I know some people use brown paper towels, brown bags or burlap...the worms eat the decaying by-product.

I am hoping that they will reproduce so that I have a steady supply of live food for my fish. If nothing else...they exist very nicely in the basement and out of the fridge (which grosses out my family). Time will tell...

If anyone has gotten them to reproduce...I'd love to hear about it.
