Sammy, Do you have heaters in your Ro/saltmix tank? I am planning on doing the same thing, setting up a pipe to a drain with a valve is easier to do now that I am placing the sump in the basement. Another Question, Can you do a water change without shutting your system down?

I LOVE my sump in the basement, as a matter of fact, it was a requirement in the last 2 houses I purchased. I will never go back to trying to crawl under a stand to work on my stuff.
If you have a basement, you can really lay things out to be easily accessible. Yes, you need to spend some money on a good pump, but that is well worth the money. I have no bubbles, and no noise from my drain lines. I run a full siphon modified bean animal drain.

Which pump are you using to pump up to the tank?

On my old tank, a 72g, I was using a Panworld 50px. It was just barely enough pump, but it worked.
On this tank, I am using a Panworld 250ps. It is pumping up to a 160g tank, plus it feeds a 30g frag tank, and it also feeds my reactors.

I have (1) 300 watt heater in it that I only turn on the day I do a water change. The way I set things up Yes, I have to shut my pump off when draining water out of my sump. this way I don't risk running my pump dry. I'm running a ReeFlo Barracuda Gold on this.

I have my fishroom in my basement. I have 40ft horizontal and 18ft vertical. I love the openness and ability to have a ton of space to work on the system.
I use the reeflo barracuda gold. Great pump, very quiet, low power consumption. My tank is almost totally silent, only noise is the MP40s. I use the APEX full version and love it. Wouldn't do the hobby without it. As others posted, coding can be very simple or very advanced, but there are loads of folks to help with coding and will share there coding with you. Check out my photo album for pics. Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2

I'm using the blueline 55 and it runs my whole system. I also have to throttle it back.
