I don't understand why anybody would make perhaps the single most important part of an aquarium set up something that you would seek out the cheapest, only "OK" looking item. You see it right in front of you anytime you look at or into your tank. Why would you skimp on such an important aspect of your system? I don't get it.
And with so many bad reviews, why take the chance? I am fortunate enough to live only a few miles from the shop that makes Leemar tanks. They built my 300g starphire tank and I couldn't be happier with the quality.

I just got one 499g for my in wall build, it looks pretty good so far but I don't have water in it yet. I think the problem is that they make the most custom tanks so they have the most custom tanks fail. Also the customer service is pretty bad, I suggest you call and talk right to Beth if you want to actually get helped.

Dave I hear leemar makes nice tanks at a great price. Unfortunately I've emailed them 3 times over last 4-5 weeks and called 1time and have yet to get any response..

I had a 120g rimless from them and for my next tank I will not be using them. The panels on mine were not perfectly aligned and they used sealant to fill in the spacing issue. The tank was fine and it looked great set up but it bugged me the whole time. I want something of better quality next time.

I paid GC to deliver it to White Plains, NY on their truck which was $125 and then I paid a local moving company another $250 to do the actual pick up and move it inside my house. Total cost in my house $1275 including 2 drilled holes, 2 bulk heads, and an acrylic cover for the overflow. I would agree that their standard overflows are small and the teeth they cut are too skinny for a reef, but if I were to buy another tank from them I would go with a "coast to coast" back wall overflow and have a custom acrylic cover made where I specified the size of the teeth. Otherwise I'm not exactly sure what it is that makes GC tanks so "ugly". I guess I'm more focused on what's behind the glass rather than the glass itself. I would add that my tank had no scratches or misaligned panes, but I am only a sample of 1. I will note that Miracles tanks are now priced roughly the same as GC which was not true when I ordered my tank in 2007. Joe |

Joe I got a quote from miracles on a 48/48/24(3 weeks ago) and it was 2700$ delivered.
Do you feel the 2 drains are enough in your tank? What size holes are they? Corey |

I have a Glass Cages Rimless 150DD. 48"36"21" with 3/4" Starphire on 3 sides and love it. Middle back placement for overflow with cover which works flawlessly.
I have had no issues with the tank which has been set up in it's current location over 6 months and a year prior to this. Only silicone issue I had was on the bottom pane where it was a bit heavy, but you don't see that anyway and If I were that anal, I could have easily taken a razor to it. I'm happy and would give them my money again for what it's worth. |

I am nuts when it comes to drain holes because I live in fear of the 1 inch drain so I had them drill a single 1.5 inch drain line in which I have a DIY Stockman style drain that is impossible for any snail or fish to get through so the net result is my drain can handle an enormous flow rate, is virtually guaranteed to never clog, and is the most silent overflow I have ever personally heard. I have much more trouble with the teeth on the overflow building up algae and slowing down than I do with the actual drain line, but in order to accommodate the 2 inch pipe which goes down to a 1.5 inch drain I had to make the overflow 8 inches wide. I think perfect caulking and perfectly aligned seams matter most when it is sitting there empty. Most people soon forget the mass production flaws soon after it is filled provided it is soundly sealed and from most bad reviews I have seen it is less about functional integrity and more about aesthetics.
I realize it is a very important piece of equipment but 1000 dollars or more saved also buys a lot of other important pieces of equipment. |

I have had a 240 and 120 from GC and didn't have a problem with them.I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.Sure the silicone might not look the best, but it does it's purpose.

I would want to buy from GC, but I live the furthest from them and there is no options to get it delivered any where close to my area.

Glass Cages did a west coast tour with their delivery truck 5-1/2 years ago. I bought my 240 gallon wide tank from them at the time. I think the delivery charge was about $125. I hope they do another west coast swing, I'm getting ready to do another tank and would buy another without hesitation.

I recently picked up a 240gal Glass cages tank off Craigslist. I got it free, because the guy was moving after he finally sold his house and it needed to go that night! I'm hesitant to put it in my house as it has sat for awhile and although it holds water, the silicone seems a little discolored and kind of fuzzy? I noticed a couple folks have repaired these tanks on their own. How difficult is it to reseal the tank? Do you have to remove all the seams so you don't get a silicone-silicone junction? or maybe just reseal the 'angles' but not the glass butt edges?
Anyone done this before succesfully? Jon |

I've bought a LOT of custom smaller stuff from them (50 gallons and less) and all acrylic. Acrylic is all they ship UPS and small stuff is all I get because their delivery truck comes nowhere near me. I guess I can't complain if I have no other choice on the custom made stuff.

It is at its end. Some lfs still have access to them and I heard marineland might still offer them as a custom build. I am airing on a response from them on warranty info but a store that still has them told me all sales are final.....
