I agree with you, I could probably get away with either a 4x6 (Or probably cheaper 3-2x6's bolted together) and a floor jack centered below the tank. Or for extra precaution, use the same 4x6 or alternative and 2 floor jacks. the $90 bucks spent now will save the floor later. |

your fridge probably weighs around the same. set it near a loadbearing wall, not a freestanding cross-area space-dividing wall with no wall or outer wall below it.

I have a 120 gal and could not run it with joists. With that said, I sistered the next two joists to each other. The floor is also OSB and after doing that there is no wave action as you walk by and I feel confident that this is more than enough support. It may be overkill, but better safe than sorry. (2x12)
