Over the past four years, I have used the Octo Extreme 200 and then the Octo SRO 3000 for my 200 gal system.
I just switched to the Aquamaxx EM300 and can't believe the difference. It was skimming better than the SRO within the first 48 hrs. I always pushed the Octo brand for price/performance, but I am now an Aquamaxx convert. Just wish they were easier to get. I just lucked out and ordered mine when a new container arrived, but they were sold out in a matter of days. |

Here is what I am looking at now
http://www.avastmarine.com/ssc/do/pr...ne-Skimmer-Kit Looks really good for 179 and can get a neck cleaner.. But you have to build it yourself. |

Interesting. But the Aqua maxx em 100 user reviews on the only major site that sells this skimmer indicate that it is awful? Caveat emptor.

Sca aquariums by far. I've had a ton of different skimmers including my new reef octopus diablo and the sca aquariums pulls out more nasty junk than all I have tried. How do you beat $150

the sca 301 was by far the best "bang for buck skimmer" when it was $75 earlier this year
with the price increase not so much but its still a good option |

Just one thing on the SCA, it looks just like my old bubble-magus, works great, super cheap. It was also the loudest equipment on my tank. Not ramora loud, more like a loud humm. The Cad-lights I mentioned is a little more, but dead silent and I never need to adjust it. My 2¢
