Looking good.

Looks like 9.5 is your Mark. Leave it and enjoy a cleaner tank

I made a video of the skimmer and sump in action this week

I'm having a heck of time with the valve

Seems like it has little affect when you open and close it, until you make very large adjustments.

I love how quit it is so far

They shorted me one pc of the rubber foot, so I'm getting alittle noise from the vibration of the pump. I have to contact them for the replacement pc

Here's a short video of it started up and running

The whole system is up and running, power heads, return pumps, skimmer, and you can hear a dime drop everythings so quit, it's amazing

I do not know and understand what happened to my original set of skimmers; a Deltec APF600, 2 ATB Multiple-use working together for last 2 years. I only cleaned up the cups once a week and they were 1/5 cup only.

Now, for 3 week-old CO3, I have to clean the cup almost 1/2 full in every 3 to 4 days.

My sump is in basement, I noticed that the pump is louder now. I will check it out asap.

I put a epoxy to hold frags in the water, couldn't get it to stop overflowing

2 days later, it's working perfect again

I have a light bio load right now, only 2 clowns in the tank, shrimp, and CUC

It does have a hum to it, but I'm missing some rubber feet which they are sending

I do have to say, I contacted Aquamaxx about the overflow problem, not knowing it was the epoxy , and I received a response from Larry within a hour. Several emails back and forth, and their customer service so far has been outstanding to help me resolve some questions I had

Epoxy makes all skimmers go nuts.

Do you feel that the connection for the cup is pretty durable? I ask because no matter how much skimmate I collect I like to remove and clean the cup daily. Thanks for the feedback on the skimmer so far.

It's a wedge design connection, so when you put the cup into the slots on the neck, you twist the cup and it tightens

I haven't had any issues, or see any reason why it would become one, it works as it should

I am having a heck of a time with the valve still. It only happens every few days when I clean the cup

I should have took a picture last night when I cleaned the cup, after 3 days it was only a 1/4 filled, but it was a really dark nasty color and smelled !

I also clean mime every few days

So far it's working great and Really quit !

Hi fltekdiver,

what do you mean by valve? Do you mean the standpipe on the output?

Is it rotating out of adjustment?

Yes, sorry

Seems you have to turn the valve several turns to make an adjustment

Then it either over flows , or doesn't have enough head

I get it just right, to where after a few days, I only have 1/2" to a 1" in the cup, but then when I turn it back off to clean everything, seems like I have to start all over with the adjustments

Other then that, it's really working well

I kind of thought that's what was going on. DO NOT keep adjusting that pipe. When you have it set to where it is producing well, leave it where it's at. If you keep adjusting it it will never stay consistent. When you tweak the pipe, it takes any skimmer any where from an hour to a day to stabilize. You should not need to clean the output pipe. Once you find the level that works for you, mark the pipe and the flange with an indelible marker so you always know your spot. If it gets bumped off you will know right where the sweet spot was. If the skimmer doesn't bounce back in a timely manner don't worry, just give it time.

Hope that helps

Bottom of the cup is fine!

Since foam heads will vary depending on available nutrients and conditions like hands in tank or new socks/equipment, I always guage where my skimmers are set by viewing the air/water line in the body of the skimmer. Mine is an inch below the collar that the cup mounts on.

When you find that sweet spot and your comfortable with what the skimmer is producing, observe where the air/water line is in the body. Either mark it or just make a mental note of where it is and that will be your spot. IME, foam heads will come and go depending on what's going on in the system but the A/W line will always be stable. If your not sure where the line is, look at the body of the skimmer when it's running and you will see a swirling, turbulent area at the lower end and a fine line where the bubbles become uniform and begin rising up the transition to the cup.

Happy reefing

Tivo

Just snapped o pic of my reactor I just added, and realized I caught the skimmer in the back ground this time before I emptied the cup

This is 5 days , may I should close a valve a 1/2 turn more, so it fills the cup alittle faster?

Right now I'm not getting a wet skim, it's dark and stinky, lol

Just to Reiterate, when you clean the collection cup or even feed, the oils from your hands etc can knock down the foam head. It will self correct in an hour or two, don't keep adjusting it, although this discussion is making me appreciate my controllable skimmer.

Yes, Diablo DC 150. Although I can't comment too much as it just went in last night, isn't at the right water level and has a ways to go before it'd even close to broke in.

Just to add my $0.02 to this thread. I've had my CO-3 running for a few weeks now and I really like it. It's quiet, easy to work with and clean, and is doing a great job skimming. See for yourself:

I should have taken a picture before i emptied my cup a few hours ago.
Looked the same !

After owning this skimmer now for more then a few months, I love it !

Very easy to clean. I have had 0 issues with it, very consistent. And couldn't be happier

I'm glad I took the fish and bought it when it first came out!
