Sand sifter is what I have at the moment. Been in my tank since I was 6 months old. He is still there cruising around. Fascinating little guy.

Im wondering if i can do a fromia in my 180. Not sure how to tell when this "biofilm" has built up enough. The tank is about 4-5 months old. But was cycled very hard with pure ammonia, cycled at 4ppm.

I have a both blue link and a serpent in a 60 cube that's been going for about 18 months. The link has been in there for about a year with no problems.

Serpent starfish are rather irrelevant to this topic, as they feed on something completely different. They eat large visible things, protein. They don't compete with links.

I've had a huge sand sifter for several years he is big and fat, spends most of his time under the sand, I bought a blue linkta about a year ago, again he is large and very chubby :-) goes missing for days at a time, the just pops up again as if from nowhere.

Waiting is the hardest thing to do!:/. All these creatures and I can't have any. My tank currently has 12 corals and nothing but snails, hermits and shrimp. I'm ready for some fish, anems. And other cool inverts. .

I have an orange linkia in my 75. Tank was 6 months or so old when I bought him. He's been in there three months and is doing fine--however I don't know if he is going to make it in the long run. He keeps finding more and more exotic locations in the tank for food--he could run out eventually but 3 months in and he is fine. My general understanding was that oranges could be tried after 6 months, but blues almost always die. I also have a black serpent and a black brittle. The serpent comes out and crawls around and my kids love him. The brittle is getting huge, and mostly hides in a little cave under a rock. Generally he can find food within range of his arms such that he doesn't have to come out. I sometimes target feed them. The linkia is not interested in visible food of any kind...

I've had blue linckia for two years. He's been through 4 tank transfers, that includes three moves this past summer. I think it all comes down to the star fish being properly acclimated through all it's stops before it reaches your tank. I think I just got lucky.

My orange linckia is in 75 gallon and doing well. I intentionally leave a little alge on glass for him so he won't starve.

I have a fromia in a 150 gal. He cruises the whole tank and won't see him for days. Any time he gets close enough to the top for me to reach, I'll give him a piece of plankton, which he eats. He's missing several legs, in process of growing back, due to overflow mishap and I had no clue about not allowing him to touch air and acclimating him. He must be pretty hardy, cuz he went thru a lot before I learned otherwise.
