Most heaters come with nice little suction cup mounts. The other thing to watch for is even with the heater in the bottom make sure you don't drain the water all the way and expose the heater. This is also another reason not to have it on top. Every time you lower the water level you'll have an exposed heater element. VERY HOT!!

Great idea on putting the Mag inside the tank...why didn't I think of that?
Before trashing the container b/c the Mag won't fit try using a dremel tool to cut out the top portion (with the screw-on lid part) so you can put the Mag in there, then use thick CA to reattach the cut out part. It won't be the prettiest and you won't be able to remove the pump without a little dremel surgery on the tub but it may be a solution. Mark

There will be a lot of opinions but
1. Make your return in the middle of the sump as to make sure you will move the water better so no dead spots atleast not as many. 2. The heater i don't add until salt is mixed up if not heated water with salt will get a lot of nasty build up. 3. The heater at the bottom will provide better heating capability through osmosis. |
