I only removed the inside seam for aesthetics. Did not touch the seams between the glass at all.

Now I just have to find someone to build a stand. I don't have the tools to do it myself and I am not a carpenter. The stand that it came with is that generic black stand and I don't trust it

I would suggest a local club if you have one, most areas do, and usually there is at least one go to guy for that type of thing.
I would post some your questions in the DIY forum where there seem to be more people informed on such topics. Rocketengineers DIY stand template is very helpful.

I made a stand for a 40 breeder using his template. I plan to give whoever makes the stand for me the template for the 210, I just don't have the time to attempt to learn carpentry with no tools. I also need the stand to be very attractive because it is in my living room. I have so much other stuff going on right now that I don't feel like adding making a stand to that list. And my husband is too busy to help me try and figure it out. The only reason I started this thread in the new to the hobby is because of the quick responses. |

This may help if you have not seen this section, and you might find a local club w/ a builder or two, or maybe someone can refer you to someone familiar w/ our tank stand needs.

I found a really solid buffet table on Craigslist for free. Seems like you have enough experience to gauge if a piece of furniture will bear the weight, so that might be an option. Like, you could just set a craigslist alert while you're looking for a handy-person to build yours from scratch.
Supporting a local cabinetmaker is an awesome thing to do if you can afford it. Honestly, the rocketengineer plans are so simple anybody can do it so it's really the aesthetics that you'll pay for.

Just a thought you may find helpful.... I built my stand using RocketEngineer's template. Not wanting a bunch of 2x4s in my dining room and not wanting to make a permanent skin that'll make it even heavier I decided to just trim it out. I attached a 1x2 along the bottom perimeter and then a piece of trim against that. Around the top I attached a taller piece of trim that rises about 1 1/4" above the top. This is how I found out that I suck at cutting good 45° corners. Anyway, I plan on making pop-off panels instead of doors, that will sit between the top and bottom moldings. I'd imagine that a cabinet maker, or even a picture frame maker could make the panels in a pinch. I'll post pics as soon as I can get them off of my son's phone.
