I have one in my 20 long. The suction cups stink but u can hook it up with PVC pipe. I think that alone would be enough to hold it in place. I plan on trying when I swap the tank onto my new stand.
Works well otherwise. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk |

I didn't know about this thread so I started my own
http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2578713 When I started all 4 to test, one of them were clicking but by the time I started filming, it stopped. Not sure what changed so I assumed it needed a little breaking in time. I didn't get around to running in the tank. Maybe next weekend.

I have mine connected directly to my PVC plumbing. The PVC holds them suspended in place

Update if anyone is interested, I got one more and it was really glitchy like the earlier poster commented. It didnt seem to be breaking in so I took it apart.
Well these things are glued together so taking them apart isnt really a reversible procedure. But the reason some are glitchy is because the rotating mechanism is a magnetic feed through, so if there is any friction in the arm from flashing left over in casting or whatever it snags and the rotating part jumps on the magnet, which is better than breaking anything I guess. So I am just turning mine into a cheap kalk stirrer now. |

Got mine installed. While the concept is great, I wonder about the longevity of the device. I think once coralline starts to grow on it, it might not swing as smoothly

I definitely think your right about the coralline. I really like the way you put it in upside down. If you spun over that 45 you could probably hide most of the unit above the water.

Are there alternatives to this that may be a little more expensive that work better?

How would it work better? It's a flow diverter and it diverts flow. It clicks sometimes but resets and it's ok.

Anyone know if it's safe to use sticking out of the water? I'll have it upside down like solitude127 did but I have space above it to have most of it emmersed. Figure this would look nicer.

It's really a cool little item. Too bad they didn't make it a little better with a good, cool running motor and able to be disassembled just for starters. I'd also worry about coraline build up and cleaning with a vinegar bath? If it worked really well, I'd pay $50 or more for it. But we already have so much cheap, poorly made stuff in this hobby, like the Crossflow and Gyre (one with really crap motors and the other frail and very overpriced).
Any of the early adopters still using them? Updated reviews?

Still using mine since I received from my preorder. Haven't cleaned it since and it still works well.

Meh. Don't rely on return pump for water motion in tank. Compared to 4 Tunze and Jabao wavemakers in my tank, moving the return flow from my Eheim 3400 would be insignificant.

There is a review on amazon where the guy fixes the clicking by adding a ceramic washer to add a little clearance for the magnet so it doesn't get hung up.

Well no one seems to have the 1" in stock for me to try. I always thought the sea swirl was over priced. I just wish all the accounts parts were above the water line...
