The tideline 48 is nice. Plenty of room for whatever mechanical equipment you may want.

If money were no option, I'd get a dream box. That being said a modified 40B can do what I need it to.

I just bought an inexpensive glass tank, took some measurements and had the baffles cut at a local glass shop.A tube of silicone , a little project and I've got a custom sized sump for under $100 The reason I did it this way is that I can customize the size of the compartments including the height of the baffles and where they are placed. It's also a very cost effective.

That's good looking work right there.
Have decided to go the same route with a 75 gallon. Received all the glass yesterday. Will probably build it today. Thanks for all the replies. |

Made mine from an old LFS acrylic frag tank ($100). 8'x2'x18" and divided into four 45g sections ($25). Refugium/DSB/return pump and skimmer.
Why did I pick it... 180g and only 18" tall under the stand. It's been amazing! You can see it inside the stand during the build process. ![]()

That's pretty smart Ron.
You don't come across 18" x 8' tanks everyday. |

Custom design by me. Built by Advanced Acrylics.
Dosing tubes mean the liquid slurry goes right into the water without splashing the sides of the tank creating a film. Enough built in probe holders. Options for foam or mesh filtration with or without socks. Large enough sump and fuge sections. Covers to reduce evaporation, splashing and critter escape. A return pump section if I ever need to put this under my tank, which will likely never happen. DIMs are 48" x 20" x 20". Holds a good amount of water when shutting down the return. Adjustable water height in sump/fuge sections.

Rubbermaid stock tank +1
Cost effective; plenty of room for equipment; adds a lot of water to the system volume.

My sump is simple. 60'' X 30'' X 16''. It is connected to a 48'' X 24'' X 24'' tank with 2, 2'' bulkheads. Two filter socks. My skimmer is external as is my return pump. I made it this way so I am able to do a WC with out haveing to turn off anything. I have a very large space for Macros, Dont have to worry about skimmer water height, It also allows me to run the sump water level higher than normal , and still have room for water draining from the DT during a power outage.
Build and design your own . It is worth the effort |

Trigger will move walls and change colors for the same price at their retail tank. I made quite a few changes to their emerald line including moving walls, slightly longer footprint, and a few other small items to make my life easier. I had shopped Synergy, Advanced Acrylics, and BOA and while I had ability to have more options with them the timing was a bit longer and the price higher. I kept coming back to Trigger and once I got them on the phone to talk about options to customize and they were able to do it all for same price as retail I was floored.

Man I had no idea trigger would do that. I would have went with them! Luckily I can remove my sump while the tank is running. So maybe in a year or two I'll be upgrading

A friend of mine (picscott) ordered the PVC sump from Advanced Acrylics. I was very impressed with their work.

I have a dream box, top quality is an understatement when it comes to these.
Those AA PVC Hybrid sumps look great. It's hard to tell what the savings are because he does not list the prices on the sumps, only the combo packages with ATO Res and Fuge. The dream boxes are much more affordable then most people actually think. For example, a 50"x20"x14" dream box would cost around $954 USD for the dream box. On RE's website it retails for $1,085. -19% Vat and x 1.10 USD to Euro Conversion it is around $950-975 USD for the sump, that size sump shipped to a local airport would probably be around $400-$500. Total around $1500. That includes 10 filter socks as well vs the 2 in the AA version. For the 48"x20"x15" PVC Sump from AA the price is only available in the combo package which is $2400 but includes a Fuge and ATO Res. Let's assume those are worth $600 for the Fuge and $400 for the Res, makes the price nearly identical. I am not sure if the price on John's website includes shipping, that would also make a difference.

Wow... didn't know there was someone making a knock-off of the Dreambox!
Anyone know if they come plumbed and ready? |

If you did local pickup on the AA sump you would probably save ~$500 which is about 30% which is substantial.

I purchased the skimmer, reactors, and pumps but mine was not plumbed. I never asked for them to do it. I've seen some where the return pump is plumbed to the reactors but that is very simple to do, but I suppose if your willing to pay for it they are willing to do it! One other tidbit, with the dreambox if you buy a pump and skimmer you get a 7.5% discount on everything, my total discount was over 500 Euros which nearly covered the shipping expenses.
