I have on my 55g. It looks cool but if you have any sand shifters the will destroy it like my baby horseshoe crab did.

Tanks that are not cycled properly can result in issues but usually only a small spike. Once I had to qt a pipefish but my qt tank was drained and had been for a while so all I did was fill it up and add cycled bacteria to the filter. The pipefish is fine, doing well, and eating frozen.

Everything was transferred from my old tank and am using live sand which should minimize any cycle. I did this with my last tank and didnt have any issues.

Yes, I am a bit worried about my starfish. I have had him for about 3 months niw so Far. I plan on adding new live rock which should give him more to feed on. I think 45 gallon might just be bug enough to support him. I have read minimum for these guys is 39 gallon.

Typo...minimum is 30 gallons....but who knows how accurate that is.

Perfect everything should be fine then. If you have cycled media from your last tank then put it in the filtration system of your new tank. If your tank has a filter sock then put the media inside that.

Update. Moved my hammer and frogspawn coral up higher in the tank. Frogspawn was looking a litle dull in color and see through. Was getting about 80 PAR which I dont believe is enough light. Now frogspawn is getting about 220 PAR and hammer is getting about 155 PAR.

Day 3 post transfer and everything seems good. Starfish had a bit of a scare. Started curling his legs. Still not totally out of the woods yet with him.

Update: So, sand started turning brown. Was getting really frustrated so I went a bought a diamond goby. Boom! Sand back to white within a day.

Update: came home for lunch and saw that my diamond goby jumped out of the tank. Sucks. I knew that might happen and even had glass cover to account for it but never used it. Lesson learned. There goes $30 and a beautiful fun fish.

little update. I replace my diamond goby with another diamond goby. I also have a lawn mower blenny. Just picked up a six headed frogspawn two weeks ago.mtank is definitely looking fuller.
